Geraldo Rivera has said a lot of embarrassing things in his life, mostly stemming from not knowing what he was talking about half the time.
But he went over the edge big time on Tuesday on “The Five” when he spoke out against AR-15s, calling them “machine guns,” automatic rifles and saying the “AR” in AR-15 stood for “automatic rifle.” He left host Greg Gutfeld just flabbergasted who had to tell him, “No, that’s not what it is.”

But Geraldo continued to melt down and was upset that anyone dared to question what he said.
Heard the Daily Caller and fellow travelers are ranting about my incorrect definition on-air of “AR” as in AR-15. Whatever. Point is, there is no place (other than sporting clubs and similar skilled settings) for assault rifles.

“Heard the Daily Caller and fellow travelers are ranting about my incorrect definition on-air of ‘AR’ as in AR-15,” Rivera whined. “Whatever. Point is, there is no place (other than sporting clubs and similar skilled settings) for assault rifles. They’re substitute appendages.”
That says something about him when he can’t take the “L” and just admit that he’s wrong. “Whatever” is how he’s pursued his “journalism.” If you don’t care about being accurate, then frankly, why should anyone listen to you? Yes, people make mistakes, but when they’re wrong, they should just admit it, rather than trying to justify it. Maybe if he could admit that he was wrong, about “AR” and that it wasn’t automatic or a machine gun, he might learn what it truly is — one of the most popular rifles in the country. It makes it hard to take his opinion seriously that they have no place “other than sporting clubs and similar skilled settings” and he calls it an “assault rifle.” That comment also indicates he has no idea what he’s talking about. I’m going to bet he would be very challenged to explain those comments. It’s a semi-automatic rifle that fires one bullet per trigger pull, Geraldo, it’s not a machine gun.
In addition to needing to learn more about guns, he also needs to learn more about our Constitution and that part about “shall not be infringed.” It doesn’t say it’s okay to infringe upon the right if Geraldo gets emotionally upset with people having guns.
It’s more than a little funny when Geraldo talks about “substitute appendages.” Um, has he checked the banner in his Twitter profile lately? What would you call this?

What happens if a woman has an AR-15? He likely doesn’t understand a big contingent of AR-15 users are women. Is Geraldo being anti-trans if he’s against “substitute appendages”?
But seriously, Geraldo, get one of your conservative friends to educate you on guns so you don’t sound so ignorant and you learn something. The liberal media is full of people ignorant on the subject. If you’re going to talk about issues like guns, at least get some basic knowledge.
