We’ve seen Joe Biden and his team try to pitch the slight drop in the gas prices as some sort of enormous win. It had been so high, the prices dropped because the demand dropped, according to Reuters — not because of anything that Biden did. But it’s so on brand with Biden, who never takes any responsibility for anything, that when the prices went up, he blamed everyone and everything else except his bad energy policies. But once it went down, they tried to say they were “saving” you money.
While CNN has finally booted Brian Stelter and his show “Reliable Sources,” CNN hasn’t completely cleaned up being scribes for the Democratic party yet.
Next time you stop at a gas station, think of it as a $100-a-month tax cut. Or a maybe $100-a-month raise. https://t.co/7FOuCRfrJt

This is an incredibly disingenuous headline, “America just got a $100-a-month raise.”

“Next time you stop at a gas station, think of it as a $100-a-month tax cut. Or a maybe $100-a-month raise,” the article argues.
How about no? Prices were averaging $2.33 when Joe Biden came into office. They hit over $5.00 in June. Now, the current average is $3.91, so they’re still about a dollar-and-a-half more than when Biden came in.
You can see the trajectory under Biden according to EIA, and it wasn’t good.

Needless to say, CNN got pounded by people on social media for trying to sell this nonsense.
One noted that once the Strategic Petroleum Reserve draining stops (if that is contributing to the drop at all), that could help drive the prices back up right before the midterm elections.
Next time you stop at a gas station remember prices are STILL up ~90% since @POTUS took office, you are paying in after-tax dollars, and the draining of the SPR in the U.S. ends in Oct, just in time for mid-terms, which will contribute to gas prices going RIGHT BACK UP. https://t.co/Z5dnQeHUFU pic.twitter.com/KDyzViUwrV

Fox Business’ Charles Payne couldn’t hold back.
Does @CNN share writers with Biden administration? This is so disingenuous. A raise? Gasoline through roof even with pullback from all time high. Then there's food and rent! Yikes. The only thing that's down in cost are dad jeans đź‘– https://t.co/Ng4551bEol

“Does @CNN share writers with Biden administration?” Payne wondered. “This is so disingenuous. A raise? Gasoline through roof even with pullback from all time high.” Then Payne noted it’s not just gas; with inflation, we’re being crushed everywhere with high prices, “Then there’s food and rent! Yikes. The only thing that’s down in cost are dad jeans đź‘–”
Does this also mean that suddenly the gas companies that Biden painted as greedy are no longer greedy? This is the kind of lie that we were sold as it was going up; now we’re being sold the same lie as it comes down a bit. And if going down is a “raise,” what was going up all these months? Biden owes us all that money back.
But if CNN wants to rehaul itself, pushing Biden’s talking points isn’t the way to do it.
