WATCH: Hilarious Reactions When Members of Congress Are Asked, 'What Is Inflation?'

Democrats are always screaming about Republicans and “norms.” Yet, at every turn, they seem to be the party that not only wants to throw the “norms” of our government under the bus but also change the very definitions under which we operate in order to serve their own narratives — everything from the definition of a woman to the definition of recession.
Accuracy in Media’s Adam Guillette went up to members of Congress outside the Capitol in D.C. and asked them if they could explain, “What causes inflation?”

Here’s their longer version:

You would think that the members of Congress would want to answer this question since it’s the number one concern of the American people.

But Democrats alternated between running and/or not answering the question, to being hilariously wrong when they tried.

The first person he got to respond was Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. Jeffries said there were “a lot of things” that cause inflation but they had to work on lowering costs. But when asked to name one thing, he took off. He came back and asked Guillette if he thought Americans wanted an “academic discussion” about inflation or if Americans would rather know they were “doing something” to lower costs. No, we’d like to know that you know what it is so you know how to approach it correctly since Democratic policies seem to be about doing everything to make it worse. But he still refused to define it.

Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) declared that Democrats are on it, that Democrats were going to do everything they could to get inflation “in the right place” and Biden was on it. But she wouldn’t explain what they were doing that would change inflation or what inflation was.

Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) couldn’t be bothered to even answer. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) usually loves sucking up for attention, but funny, not so much on this occasion.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) gave the simplest and most direct answer, “Too much government spending.”

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) gave the most detailed answer.

β€œThere are a number of different factors that cause inflation. In no particular order: our deficit and debt which is devaluing the American currency, the rising cost of energy because of the policies that are an attack on energy production, paying people not to work, regulatory burdens that increase the cost of production of American goods and taxes that also increase the cost of producing American goods. Plus any number of other factors.”

Rep. Ayanna Presley (D-MA) answered most in line with the Biden narrative, claiming that inflation was due to “price gouging by corporations” and “conflicts abroad.” If that were true, you’d have inflation all the time. So no, the talking points are not the answer, though they’re funny to laugh at given how ignorant they are.

But the responses are also a problem. If you think it’s “price gouging,” then you’re going to continue to spend as Democrats are doing with the Manchin-Schumer bill that they falsely called the “Inflation Reduction Act.” Now that the Act has been passed and signed, it’s going to hurt all of us and make inflation worse, not to mention raise taxes on people in the middle of a recession. Democrats need to be held accountable in November for how much they have hurt this country.
