Dr. Anthony Fauci was in Seattle on Tuesday to receive the Hutch Award and throw out the first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game.

The Hutch Award is described as one of the “top annual awards given to a Major League Baseball player.” It “recognizes the player who best exemplifies the fighting spirit and competitive desire of Fred Hutchinson, the legendary pitcher and manager who died of cancer at the age of 45.” Fauci is only the second non-player to receive the award. Turns out he’s friends with the former president of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Dr. Larry Corey, so that likely explains why he was getting the award.

Fauci being Fauci he dropped fun news during his time at the Center, telling them “We are expecting another [COVID] surge in the fall.” He also was putting down people who had questioned his advice, according to Outkick. “It’s still amazing to me that people can still hold onto such untruths. They have so much going on in their lives, that they just accept it as fact,” Fauci said. He was flanked by Secret Service agents who were protecting him. Joe Biden must have authorized that for him.

While he was in Seattle, Fauci also was asked to throw out the first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game.

He was met by a chorus of boos, even in very liberal Seattle.

The fans didn’t hold back. Someone also shouted, “You’re going to miss this like you missed the pandemic, loser!”

Now the pitch was pretty pathetic.

But that said, it was significantly better than when he threw out that first pitch at the Washington Nationals game in July 2020. That pitch was Barack Obama-level bad.

But I don’t expect Fauci to learn anything from the boos about the way that he has conducted himself regarding the pandemic. That would require some self-reflection which I don’t think he has the capacity for. He can’t change how much the policies he has helped to promote hurt this country and people aren’t going to forget it.
