As I reported earlier, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) got in trouble with folks on the left when he said that they shouldn’t blame the NRA for mass shootings, but instead should concentrate on blaming Republicans and trying to vote them out. His take was crazy since neither the NRA nor Republicans are responsible for mass shootings, but the Democrats want to blame their opponents and/or guns rather than having to deal with hard issues like mental illness and moral decay, which don’t have easy solutions. So Swalwell got creamed by folks on the left for appearing to excuse the NRA.
But in the process of defending himself, he slipped up and revealed his focus was not to blame the NRA but to use this incident to help get Democrats elected, by blaming Republicans. He followed through on that thought by then attacking a Republican woman lawmaker who is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO).
Swalwell posted a picture of Boebert with a rifle next to a picture of the Highland Park suspect, Robert Crimo III, saying, “Let’s start drawing straight lines.”

But the day hasn’t been going well for Swalwell. First, he had the left beating him up over the NRA tweet, now he had folks on the right and Boebert herself laying him out for being ridiculous trying to link her to the suspect.
But Boebert wasn’t taking it lying down and just leveled Swalwell, drawing straight lines between Swalwell, Christine Fang, and Xi Jinping.
Yes, let’s.

But it didn’t go well.
.@EricSwalwell, give it up creep.
Did Fang Fang block you on WeChat?

But Boebert then made a greater point about the exchange to Fox.
Boebert told Fox News Digital she gets “that Eric Swalwell isn’t a fan of our Constitutional rights and is desperate to distract from his repeated political failures, but the only straight line that needs to be drawn is from Eric Swalwell to Fang Fang to the Chinese Communist Party.”
“I will make sure that line gets drawn when we take back the House,” Boebert continued. “Law-abiding gun owners won’t be smeared and disarmed every time a California failed presidential candidate rolls out of bed with a Chinese spy and tries to blame us for the conduct of others.”
Boebert also noted that this type of rhetoric is dangerous and needs to be condemned. She called him a “Russia hoax conspirator and failed presidential candidate that slept with a Chinese spy. Now he’s comparing me to a deranged murderer.” “When will Democrats condemn HIS dangerous rhetoric?” she asked.
Unfortunately, that’s not coming anytime soon. But Boebert exposed the extreme position of Swalwell and the Democrats who push this line. Americans get what’s going on and they’re not taken in by this; they can distinguish between law-abiding, gun-owning Americans and killers. They can also tell how radical the Democrats have become on this as well as other issues. They just keep jacking up the rhetoric not seeming to realize it has the opposite effect. But they’re going to find out in November.
