As we reported earlier, after their hearing on Thursday, the Jan. 6 Committee is putting off more hearings until sometime in July. The report claims that they have “new tranches of evidence” that they want to look into.
So I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you if you believe this. The problem is that so far, they haven’t shown anything that is new or that would move the needle. They haven’t achieved their main purpose — to somehow nail President Donald Trump. The bottom line is no one is watching. Who wants to bet that they’re putting it off a bit so it’s a little closer to the midterms so they can make do with what they have, while also getting in their time off? A side benefit to this move? Many on the left are steaming that the Committee is taking this break.
But how do we know no one is watching? We reported on how the first night of the hearings was a trainwreck. But according to a new poll, it’s gotten worse with the subsequent hearings that were not held in primetime.
A majority of Americans said they didn’t watch the second and third hearings that were held — 62 percent. Of those who did watch, only 28 percent said they watched some and only 11 percent said they watched it in full.
Who were those who were watching? Democrats — and likely the folks who have already made up their minds on the matter. Only 32 percent of independents have watched any of it and only 25 percent of Republicans. So if the point was to change minds or influence people to vote for Democrats and demonize Republicans, they’re pretty much just preaching to the converted
Yet, the media is pitching it as “stunning” (although how it can be so when it’s not presenting anything new is a neat trick).

You know that when they have to work so hard, it’s anything but. If it were stunning, they wouldn’t have to keep trying to convince people of it, people would be watching.
But one of the interviews on the subject told the tale, maybe even more than the poll result.
Politico’s Betsy Woodruff Swan (@woodruffbets): “I have talked with two separate Democratic members of Congress in the last couple of weeks about January 6th … Both of them have said, offhandedly, ‘Nobody gives a bleep about January 6th'” pic.twitter.com/8n4SKQjPdC

“I have talked with two separate Democratic members of Congress in the last couple of weeks about January 6th…Both of them have said, offhandedly, ‘Nobody gives a bleep about January 6th,'” Politico’s Betsy Woodruff Swan said. Whoops. If they can’t even convince Congressional lawmakers and even Congressional Democrats are blowing it off, plus willing to tell her so, you know that it truly is failing big time. They’re up a creek without a paddle. They’re probably taking a couple of weeks to reevaluate the strategy to see if there’s any way to make this work. The Committee may even be having the opposite effect — convincing the voters that once again Democrats are concentrated on something other than what the people care about. This just reinforces they’re not focused on those concerns like inflation.
