Tucker Announces Return to Twitter: 'Today, the Tyrants Are Grieving'

Liberal media is freaking out about possible “hate speech” now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter. It’s sort of hilarious — the same liberal groups who had no issue with people being suppressed or banned are suddenly melting down that a guy who’s more or less a libertarian is going to be in charge. It’s the end of the world.

Human Rights Watch, the ACLU, Amnesty International, and the NAACP all expressed concerns.

“Regardless of who owns Twitter, the company has human rights responsibilities to respect the rights of people around the world who rely on the platform. Changes to its policies, features, and algorithms, big and small, can have disproportionate and sometimes devastating impacts, including offline violence,” Deborah Brown, a digital rights researcher and advocate at Human Rights Watch, told Reuters in an email.

“Freedom of expression is not an absolute right, which is why Twitter needs to invest in efforts to keep its most vulnerable users safe on the platform,” she added. [….]

“While Elon Musk is an ACLU card-carrying member and one of our most significant supporters, there’s a lot of danger having so much power in the hands of any one individual,” Anthony Romero, executive director at the American Civil Liberties Union, told Reuters after the deal was announced. [….]

“The last thing we need is a Twitter that willfully turns a blind eye to violent and abusive speech against users, particularly those most disproportionately impacted, including women, non-binary persons, and others,” Michael Kleinman, director of technology and human rights at Amnesty International USA, said on Monday.

“Hate speech” to some of the folks in these groups translates simply to “speech with which I disagree.” That kind of political suppression is what Musk — the self-described free-speech absolutist — has said he is against.

My colleague Sister Toldjah hit on some of the other liberal meltdowns, like that of Brian Stelter and others.

But what the liberal elite are truly concerned about here is the losing that control of the platform — they won’t be able to shut down things like the story about the Hunter Biden laptop. Musk may now find out more about how they have been controlling things and shutting people down, with things like suspensions and shadow bans behind the scenes. That, hopefully, will be revealed and done away with.

But it already looks like some positive is being felt. Tucker Carlson’s Twitter account is back and tweeting. They hadn’t tweeted since March 22 after Tucker was suspended over a tweet referencing Rachel Levine that cited tweets from the Babylon Bee and Charlie Kirk.

It’s unclear if the suspension was lifted because of the Musk takeover or if the others will be lifted as well, but I wouldn’t doubt that it’s coming because it was the discussion about the Babylon Bee being suspended that reportedly sparked Elon’s disturbance about the free speech issue on Twitter, to begin with. So it would complete the circle if now, after buying Twitter, he freed the Bee.

The folks at the Babylon Bee are out with a new parody and waiting with bated breath to be let out of Twitter jail.

Tucker Carlson weighed in as well on how this breaks the liberal elite monopoly on Big Tech social media, “Musk’s purchase of Twitter is the single biggest political development since Donald Trump’s election in 2016. It is certainly the most threatening challenge to the corrupt & incompetent leadership of this country.”

“Everyone just became a little more powerful today,” Carlson declared. “Tonight, the tyrants are grieving.” And that is truly a win for us all.
