Ted Cruz, Trump, Jr Point out the Folly of AOC's 'Tax the Rich' Dress at Met Gala

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not the sharpest tool in the shed. She frequently says and does things that don’t make a lot of sense. Like her seeming insistence on making herself a traumatic victim of the Capitol riot when she was not in the Capitol building but in her office in another building.

Last night she got a lot of attention because she went to the Met Gala in a dress that said “Tax the Rich.”

The irony? She’s attending an event hanging out with the rich, that costs at least $30,000 to attend. So she either paid or was gifted the ticket which raises gift/donation questions.

But listen to her take on it.

“We really started having a conversation about what it means to be a working class women of color at the Met,” she claimed. “We can’t just play along, but we need to break the fourth wall.”

Um, AOC? You grew up in Westchester, the daughter of an architect, and went to Boston College, despite your stories about the Bronx. You bartended briefly. You’re now a sitting member of Congress, making $174,000, who lives in a luxury building and drives a Tesla. You are not now a “working-class woman.”

When she got a lot of backlash, including from those on the left, she tried to justify herself on Instagram.

From Daily Mail:

In a proud Instagram post about the event and her choice of outfit, AOC said: ‘The medium is the message. Proud to work with Aurora James as a sustainably focused, Black woman immigrant designer who went from starting her dream Brother Vellies at a flea market in Brooklyn to winning the CDFA against all odds – and then work together to kick open the doors at the Met. The time is now for childcare, healthcare, and climate action for all. Tax the Rich.

‘And yes, BEFORE anybody starts wilding out – NYC elected officials are regularly invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing our city’s cultural institutions that serve the public.

‘I was one of several in attendance. Dress is borrowed via Brother Vellies.’

She claimed that she had a “responsibility to attend” the party. Does she really think that people are going to buy that?

Now the dress, as many pointed out looks like a Chick-fil-A bag.

While AOC and her rich buddies weren’t masked as required by the event, those working and serving had to be. Just a little more irony.

Donald Trump, Jr, dunked all over her for that one.

Some of the left were disturbed that she was there while outside the event there was a “Defund the police” protest that apparently had a dust-up with the police. According to Andray Domise, a writer and partner in black news network Rezistans Nwa, “Police were creasing people’s heads outside while you and your friends were nibbling watermelon tarts with smoked yuzu soy on panipuri crackers,” he said.

AOC trying to pretend this was some greater “statement” rather than just an excuse to party is funny.

But if she wants to talk about taxes, let’s talk about how the “rich” – the top 1% — pay 40% of all the taxes and the top half pays 97% of the taxes.

The goal of the socialist is to make everyone equally poor.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) finished her off.
