Dem Explodes on Biden for Monstrous Lie He Told in Afghanistan Speech: 'Utter B.S.'

After Joe Biden gave his speech about Afghanistan on Monday, I pointed out one of his monstrous lies — his claim that the Afghan allies didn’t really want to leave.

From Townhall:

“I know that there are concerns about why we did not begin evacuating Afghan civilians sooner. Part of the answer is some of the Afghans did not want to leave earlier — still hopeful for their country,” Biden claimed. “Part of it was because the Afghan government and its supporters discouraged us from organizing a mass exodus to avoid triggering, as they said, a crisis of confidence.”

I pointed out how that was a despicable lie — that the Afghan allies have been screaming for months for help. We’ve been reporting on it since May. Biden claimed he had a “plan” in July but then appeared to sit on his hands thinking he had months to play with. So Biden not only left them in this horrible position after we promised to help them, but now he’s lying about it to cover his own butt. There are few things that could be more despicable.

That was too much for Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), who was in Marine Corps and served multiple tours in Iraq.

“That’s utter BS,” Moulton said Tuesday during a press conference in Salem.

“I mean, don’t tell me that Afghans don’t want to leave when there’s been a backlog of Special Immigrant Visa applications for over a decade,” he said. “Don’t tell me they don’t want to leave when they’re literally clinging to airplanes to try to get out of this country. That was the single part of the president’s speech that I not only disagreed with but I thought was just utter BS.”

Moulton himself had been pushing Biden for months to get the allies out and had given him a plan to get people to Guam. “I still don’t understand why the administration hasn’t taken us up on that option and, again, why they didn’t do it a long time ago,” Moulton said. “To say that today is anything short of a disaster would be dishonest. Worse, it was avoidable.”

“But the president said in his speech that he planned for every contingency. I think it’s pretty obvious they did not plan for this contingency.”

Good for Moulton.

We are embarrassed by what Biden has done. This was not only not planning for every contingency, this was not planning for anything. We are less safe and have lost credibility around the world because of this. But perhaps most poignantly right now, there are people now left hanging in the wind, unable to get into the airport. Unfortunately, the failure to plan, as we wrote, may have been the plan. He didn’t think we needed to account for the allies, just like he didn’t think we needed to account for them in 1975 in Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War.
