Want to see propaganda spread in real time?
Over this past week, there were multiple reports of Kamala Harris’ staff being dysfunctional and having low morale, with people even leaving and heading for the hills. It was similar to the reports Harris got during her campaign.
“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” said another person with direct knowledge of how Harris’ office is run. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s—.”
So, what to do to head off the perceptions that she’s a lousy boss and treats her people badly?
Let’s have a party!
Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff threw a BBQ for the press — and the communications team about which questions had been raised.

Harris’ personal assistant Opal Vadhan, her Senior Advisor/Chief Spokesperson Symone Sanders, and other staffers all posted plenty of pictures of the event, to make sure that everyone saw what a happy bunch they all were. Did the order go out to make sure they all smiled? Because that’s what it surely looked like.
What an honor to be at the Vice President’s residence with incredible colleagues for a post July 4th BBQ. As always an honor to work on a team that looks like America. Thank you, @VP & @SecondGentleman for having us over! #VPRBBQ pic.twitter.com/PxH4FUjvfq

They even had a hashtag to coordinate the effort.
But despite the obvious effort, people still weren’t buying it. The move was just a little too obvious. Thinking the forced smiles for the camera aren’t really going to dispel the reports, when they allegedly involve so many people. This isn’t going to convince anyone.
We called it “mandatory fun” in the Army

In the dictionary when you look up "mandatory fun," this what shows up. https://t.co/BTXOoYVEnf

I’d like to know how many people in those photos are among the “22 current and former vice presidential aides, administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden described a tense and at times dour office atmosphere” that dished to Politico. pic.twitter.com/SNT8S9VpCy
