As we previously reported, former Attorney General Bill Barr told ABC’s Jonathan Karl that he believed that claims about election fraud were “bulls**t” in an article in The Atlantic.
But as I wrote earlier today, there was a small problem with that, as President Donald Trump’s attorney Jenna Ellis pointed out. The problem even came out in The Atlantic article itself.
Buried deep in the Atlantic piece is this real gem.
To my knowledge, Barr never interviewed one witness or reviewed one affidavit.
He simply formed a conclusion, sandbagged Trump’s effort to get to the truth, and let the clock run out. pic.twitter.com/Xc7uEeM8wB

If you don’t ask any questions of witnesses and don’t do any actual investigating, then all you are doing is confirming your own bias that nothing exists. Even the article suggests that Barr’s inquiry was merely perfunctory, to be able to say he ‘looked into’ them to Trump. But there was never any formal DOJ investigation into any of the claims, according to The Atlantic.
Now, President Donald Trump is weighing in. Trump being Trump, he doesn’t hold back on Bill Barr.

He ripped Barr, saying he “failed to investigate election fraud, and really let down the American people.” He listed a slew of things that he thought Barr should have asked questions about or pursued in an investigation.
But he didn’t leave it there. He excoriated him for failing to pursue the Russia probe, failing to follow up on the Horowitz report, and asked pointedly “where’s Durham,” basically asking what happened to that investigation that Barr’s DOJ was supposed to have been conducting.
Trump also asked if Barr felt that way, then why did he say that he was “greatly honored” and “proud to have played a role in the many successes and unprecedented achievements you have delivered for the American people” by serving in Trump’s administration?
He chastised Barr, as a lawyer for speaking about their alleged conversation and failing to further investigate the election questions. “Just like he did with the Mueller report and the cover up of Crooked Hillary and RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA, they don’t want to investigate the real facts.”
It’s hard to disagree. You can’t really call it an investigation if you don’t really investigate. Yes, one also has to ask if the whole investigation into the Russia probe that everyone has been waiting on forever under Durham was just a stall job to appear to be investigating as well. We kept hearing things, even from Barr himself, then nothing ever materialized. So what happened to that? Barr ran out the clock and we got nothing. Where is the Durham report or any kind of action from him? Barr really failed, not because he didn’t do what Trump wanted, but because he didn’t do what he should have as the Attorney General for the American people.
