AOC Gets Leveled Over Ridiculous Claim About 'Serving in War' and Capitol Riot

We’ve seen a lot of horrible takes from Democrats and media when it comes to the Capitol riot.

We saw George Will go over the slide big time trying to compare the riot to 9/11. Huffington Post White House correspondent S.V. Dáte even had this crazy take that we covered earlier today.

But apparently, the crazy takes on the riot aren’t quite done yet.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) has said a lot of things about what happened during the Capitol riot. But on Friday she spoke to the radio show Latino USA and said that members of Congress being on the Capitol grounds effectively “served in war” because of the riot. She also claimed the event had “deeply affected lawmaking” and “impacted the legislative process.”

Sixty seconds could have meant potentially the difference between what we have right now and a martial state,” Ms Ocasio-Cortez said. “This was an all-out attempted coup.”

“If 60 seconds went differently, if a different door was opened, if a chair wasn’t barricaded in a certain way, we could have a completely different reality right now,” she said. “We don’t want to acknowledge that that’s how close we got, but that is how close we got.”

She said: “They were looking for us, and we were not protected,” adding that Republican criticisms of her were attempts to maintain the myth of American exceptionalism and white supremacy.

AOC also claimed that she was receiving therapy because of the event the trauma she suffered.

Now, this is from the same person who already has said a lot of misleading or untrue things about what happened that day. As I reported, she wasn’t even in the Capitol building at the time but was some distance away in her office in the Cannon Office Building, 0.3 miles away. Rioters were never anywhere near her office, according to her own hall-mate two doors away, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC). AOC was furious that we reported that and went after our story and Nancy Mace but still continued to try to mislead.

Now, the building was evacuated briefly because of a nearby bomb scare at the RNC, but no, none of that was even close to the equivalent of “serving in war.” The fact that she would think there is any equivalence shows how little she actually knows about war and that she’s continuing to hype the event as something other than what it was. To suggest that the government was in danger of falling because of rioters isn’t even close to reality.

But not only does she compare the riot to serving in war; she says criticism of her false spin is about maintaining the “myth of American exceptionalism and white supremacy.” There’s how to have a really bad take plus attacking America in the process. No, AOC, American exceptionalism is not a “myth,” America the awful is the “myth” of the left. America is the greatest country in the history of the planet. AOC is still about talking down America. White supremacy has nothing to do with any criticism, her own misleading words are her own misleading words, that’s an excuse to deflect from a truthful critique of her.

Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) is a Green Beret, a decorated Special Forces officer with multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa. Waltz was awarded 4 Bronze Stars. He is the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress. He chastised AOC for making such a ridiculous comparison.

But hey, she was in her office. So, you know, that’s a lot like war.
