CA Assemblyman Makes People Laugh Their Heads off With Ridiculous Remark About Guns

One of the things about Democratic politicians’ ignorance when it comes to guns is that it is part hilarious and part troubling that people in charge of making laws can be so lacking in knowledge.

Most seem to have no understanding at all about guns. California Assemblyman David Chiu (D-OfCourse) proved that in spades. Chiu tweeted about how upset he was about “finding the discarded packaging of a semi-automatic on a leisurely weekend walk was disturbing, particularly during this month’s surge of gun violence in San Francisco. #EndGunViolence #EnoughIsEnough.“

He later deleted his tweet, but of course, the internet is forever and someone saved it.

But if he had the brain that God gave an ant, he could have seen something rather obviously on the packaging that would have told him this wasn’t an actual gun – the part where it says “air gun” should have been instructive.

Even though Chiu realized he screwed up big time, he still tried to recover and claim that the airsoft gun was somehow something to be outraged over.

I deleted an earlier tweet that misidentified a Glock 19 air pistol. While not a semi-automatic, it's still disturbing to see remnants of a weapon that can cause injury, especially in an area where young kids play and while we are dealing with a surge of gun violence in SF.

Translation: he’s trying to do what he can to justify himself for doing something really dumb. Not to mention, even his “correction” is wrong because the airsoft gun in question is semi-automatic.

Rather than freaking out about packaging on a toy, perhaps he should be concerned about what’s going on in San Francisco? How District Attorney Chesa Boudin is letting off people accused of serious criminal actions like the carjacking and assault of a 75-year-old woman? How even chain stores are closing because of shoplifting losses because it’s been essentially decriminalized?

How about being concerned about these citizens who are facing more troubling things than plastic packaging?
