On Saturday, I wrote about how Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) was heartily booed at the Utah GOP organizing convention, particularly when he criticized President Donald Trump. “I’m a man who says what he means, and you know I was not a fan of our last president’s character issues,” said Romney.

In response, Romney asked those booing, “Aren’t you embarrassed?” They weren’t, and didn’t stop booing until one of the officials asked them to show Romney some respect.
Romney then tried to press his Republican bona fides. “You can boo all you like,” Romney said. “I’ve been a Republican all of my life. My dad was the governor of Michigan, and I was the Republican nominee for president in 2012.”
But as Michael Knowles observed, this very claim wasn’t even true. Romney has previously claimed that at least part of his life, he was an Independent.
“Look, I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan-Bush." —Mitt Romney, 1994 https://t.co/8EkbI8qiyU

So which is it, Mitt? Were you an Independent or were you a Republican all of your life?
The very reason some boo and are unhappy with Romney is exactly that kind of flip-flopping, inability to trust what he says or what his position is. How he supported President Donald Trump when it was convenient for him, when it helped his campaign or when he was looking for a job in the Trump administration, but then threw him under the bus during impeachment while seemingly pandering to Democrats.
Thank you Mr. President for the support. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah.

This is a golden example of that inability to trust what he says. Republicans like Romney are what helped put Joe Biden where he is. Romney can’t pretend to be disturbed about Biden in charge now. He forfeited all right to that. He’s the very face of the go-along-to get along, maintain your own power GOP, when we desperately need people of courage and principle to stand in the breach against the tide of radical Democrats trying to push this country further left and seize control. He’s one helping to hand over that control to them.
The media will always flatter and heap praise on those Republicans who, when the going gets tough, rush to side with the media and Democrats against their own party. But sometimes the voters, even in Utah, feel otherwise. https://t.co/DjI4Rgimqc

Romney begged to be in Trump’s White House. Then begged for his endorsement in 2018. When he saw a way to be an agitator to get press attention like this clown, he went NeverTrump. More boos please https://t.co/NDakFyl29P

Romney is there to represent his constituents. He chose petty politcal payback and the people who voted for him are mad and have every right to express it as they see fit. https://t.co/Az5rAjSPHq
