Sounds like the Department of Defense just took another step further into woke-ville.

The American Veterans (AMVETS) organization has been meeting at the Pentagon as a rallying point/parking area for their Rolling to Remember event on Memorial Day for the past 32 years, according to 7News.

But now, the Pentagon has released the following statement, denying them a permit, claiming it was due to virus restrictions.

Unfortunately, the department has disapproved AMVETS permit request. The department took into careful consideration all aspects of AMVETS request, to include the current Health Protection Condition status on the Pentagon Reservation; substantial community transmission of COVID-19 in Arlington County, Virginia; number of Americans fully vaccinated across the nation; nature of this event with its decreased ability to maintain physical distance; and large crowds in one location for an extended period of time. This event draws national attention and participation; therefore the risk of exposure from participants from other communities extends well beyond the National Capital Region.

If COVID-19 conditions permit, the department would gladly consider supporting a future event request from AMVETS, potentially as soon as this Labor Day weekend.

So just to make clear, they’re denying veterans the right to assemble in a parking lot, outside, during the day, where they’ve gathered for 32 years.

As 7News I-Team makes clear, AMVETS has been waiting for a year to hear and finalize the approval for this. According to the I-Team, the veterans were told in March that their permit was approved. So after being approved, now it’s being revoked, with just a few short weeks to Memorial Day. On top of that, the news is dropped on a Friday so it will get the least amount of attention possible.

Can we say: very scummy way to treat our veterans who fought for this country, especially at an event on Memorial Day?

By the way, didn’t Joe Biden just hold a car rally outside in Georgia? So can someone explain to me the difference? Why is that event just cool with the Biden folks, yet this one isn’t? Are they trying to say that the veterans who protected our country aren’t responsible or aren’t worth as much respect as a Biden political rally? Rules for thee but not for me, from Joe Biden, once again? What’s going on here?

As our friends at PJ Media observe, this denial is coming at a time when much of D.C. is opening back up.

The Pentagon’s denial comes on the heels of the Smithsonian announcing last week that it will reopen eight of its facilities to the public in May, National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly on Wednesday, May 5.

Additional museums and the National Zoo will open Friday, May 14, and Friday, May 21. Also on Friday, the United States Holocaust Museum announced that it plans to reopen on Monday, May 17 with reduced visitation, required face coverings, temperature checks, social distancing, and other safety measures.

It does look like someone is dumping all over AMVETS here.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon is refusing to respond to further requests for an on-camera interview with the I-Team on the decision. Sources tell 7News “someone very high up at the Pentagon doesn’t like the optics of this event during a pandemic.”

Joe Chenelly the National Executive Director of AMVETS told the I-Team the veterans were very upset by the decision. “It’s very disappointing and for our members,” he said. “There’s been shock and deep disappointment expressed to us.” Chenelly said he was trying to arrange RFK Stadium as a rallying point for the event.
