Portland Antifa Riots Again, But Now Ted Wheeler Has an Idea to Make Them 'Hurt'

Mayor Ted Wheeler allowed Antifa to run wild last year in Portland.

But since the beginning of the year, he’s declared war on them, actually calling them out by name and blowing apart the Democratic narrative that they were “just an idea” and not an organized group. He knows, firsthand, how wrong that is. They came to his home last year and set a fire in the business on the first floor of his condo building. They’ve continued to riot without end.

According to Fox News, last night, a group of about 75 people dressed all in black were at it again, smashing their way through the northwest part of the city, smashing windows and breaking into a restaurant. They even threw a rock at the home of a resident who dared to film what they were doing. Police declared a riot for what seems like the umpteenth time, at this point.

But Ted Wheeler may finally be on to something that may have an effect on Antifa.

Wheeler extended the state of emergency he had declared on Tuesday, after the Chauvin trial verdict, into the weekend. The declaration allows Wheeler to issue a curfew or close streets, Fox reported. It ends at noon on Monday. But then, Wheeler said something which caused many of the leftists on social media to freak out.

He said many of these folks were arriving for the “direct actions” in their cars, and he called on citizens to get their license plate numbers and call them in to the authorities, if they can do so safely. “Our job is to unmask them, arrest them, and prosecute them,” he said.

Now, of course, this is the way to get them and he shouldn’t have to be calling on the citizenry to do it; the police should already have been marking down plate numbers at the parks where they gather and where they go back to when they’re done. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. That way, you figure out who all the folks are behind this. Of course, then you also have to prosecute them and hold them accountable. That’s another big piece that’s been missing here.

But this announcement also has the effect of throwing them completely off-kilter and wondering who may be turning them in.

Folks on the left are furious that Wheeler would dare do this. Everyone else is mad that it’s taken this long for him to do anything.

There seems to be one point of consensus.
