While Democrats did everything they could to bash President Donald Trump in regard to the virus, it was actually New York Governor Andrew Cuomo who was doing all kinds of things wrong while the Democrats were building him up as the “hero of the pandemic.”
If you thought it wasn’t possible for Cuomo to get any slimier, somehow Cuomo always finds a way.
According to The Washington Post, last year, Cuomo prioritized his own family including CNN host & brother Chris Cuomo, his mother and his sister as well as friends to get Wuhan coronavirus tests. Some like his brother got a home visit from NY health staffers who administered the scarce (at the time) tests. They then got expedited service to rush those test by state troopers to the lab. “They were known as ‘specials’ or ‘VIPs.'”
They ridiculously tried to suggest it was all about doing ‘contact tracing,’ Cuomo’s spokesperson, Rich Azzopardi argued.
“In the early days of this pandemic, when there was a heavy emphasis on contact tracing, we were absolutely going above and beyond to get people testing — including in some instances going to people’s homes, and door-to-door in places like New Rochelle — to take samples from those believed to have been exposed to COVID in order to identify cases and prevent additional ones,” Azzopardi said.
Yeah, no, don’t you even try. This is the lamest defense ever.
How is Cuomo still in office at this point with all this?
I must have missed CNN’s coverage of this. Of course @CNN was aware of it, right? @ChrisCuomo informed them of his special treatment from the governor, right? Or maybe he didn’t. Perhaps @brianstelter
will clear it up.Say, has Chris not been doing his show this week? https://t.co/hlkMzXmrUF

Weird, I just checked CNN's homepage and they don't have a story up about this yet. Must be a tough one to get confirmed 🤷♂️
"Among those who benefited from the priority testing program was Cuomo’s brother Chris"
"Chris Cuomo and CNN spokesman Matt Dornic declined to comment. " https://t.co/kYDu2sYHhC

.@brianstelter @oliverdarcy Hey, hi guys. Hey will this be in the newsletter tonight? A cable news host getting preferential treatment from his Governor brother while his network stayed silent on it? Seems kind of media newsy. If not why not? Thanks guys! https://t.co/S7Tbu7IFE6

Oh, what’s a little misappropriation of public resources amongst family? https://t.co/nppRpUl9rd

So can we expect CNN to cover this story anytime soon? Does Chris Cuomo have any comment he would like to make on it?
Given that the Love Gov interviews began shortly after that treatment, it at least suggests favor-for-access issues, esp if it was not disclosed to CNN at the time.

CNN’s official statement on the matter from Matt Dornic basically admitted it but tried to justify it.

I fixed CNN's statement on Chris Cuomo:
"Who among us in the news business hasn't secured special health care privileges better saved for hospital workers at the beginning of a pandemic because we have personal connections to powerful political figures?" https://t.co/PazXyEpD3g
