We don’t generally hear too much crazy from Idaho.

But what happened in Boise was definitely up there on the crazy meter.

Of course, since it had to do with Black Lives Matter, it was sort of a guarantee.

A BLM activist, Terry Joe Wilson, was arrested Tuesday night in relation to a vandalism incident that actually happened in February.

According to the Idaho Statesman, “[T]he bronze statue of Lincoln in Julia Davis Park — known as ‘Seated Lincoln’ — vandalized with feces, paint and signs.” Fortunately, “Parks and recreation staff were able to clean the statue, which was not permanently damaged.”

When the police arrested Wilson on Tuesday, there was added drama and he was nailed with even more charges for what he had on him.

“Officers chased after Wilson and were able to stop him and take him into custody, at which time Wilson was found to be in possession of a firearm, marijuana and drug paraphernalia,” the police press release said. “Wilson was taken to the hospital and was medically cleared before being booked into the Ada County Jail.”

Among the misdemeanor charges he got smacked with were “injuring monuments, ornaments and public improvements, resisting and obstructing officers, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.” Interestingly, there isn’t any mention of a gun charge.

The Idaho Statesman identified Wilson as a BLM spokesperson in August 2020 when reporting on a protest in front of the home of Council President Elaine Clegg.

“Activists with the Boise chapter of Black Lives Matter drew chalk figures with chalk blood on the sidewalk while demonstrating in front of Council President Elaine Clegg’s North End home,” the report said. “… They also drew what appeared to be chalk outlines generally associated with homicide investigations on the sidewalk in front of her house. The outlines had red smears over where the hearts would be.”

The report added: “Terry Wilson II, the spokesperson for the Boise chapter, said in a phone call the demonstration at Clegg’s home was because she was one of the four council members who voted to approve Mayor Lauren McLean’s 2021 budget. The 2021 budget allocates more money for the Boise Police Department, even though the overall budget decreased from 2020. … Wilson said the chapter wanted to hold Clegg accountable for her vote, which he called ‘bad policy.’”

I’d like to say I’m surprised but I’m not. One would think it’s pretty crazy for anyone who claims that they care about “black lives” to put feces on Abraham Lincoln but for some of these extremists, Lincoln is bad too. Everything that is symbolic of America, everything that stands for the goodness of America, like Lincoln must be ripped down or destroyed, it seems. We’ve seen them go after other founders, even George Washington and even abolitionists. Nor is it likely that this was a one person job, so the police are still looking for others. Hopefully that slew of charges holds him for a little while.
