Rules for Thee but Not for Me: Pelosi Just Got Busted Violating Her Own Rules

House Democrats, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) were losing their minds over Republicans having guns to protect themselves and others in the House chamber.

So Pelosi, acting like the oligarch she wants to be demanded that metal detectors be installed at the entrance to the chamber and that everyone had to go through them, no exceptions. If members didn’t go through them, Pelosi docked them with a $5000 fine from their pay. She’s already docked the pay of two Republican members. So not only is she stomping on the Constitution, trying to inhibit their ability to protect themselves which obviously might be needed but she’s also fining them like a Queen and they’re somehow her servants.

Republicans are fighting the Constitutionality of the rules.

But typically as we’ve seen with Pelosi in the past, there are rules she wants imposed on you and me, and now other members of Congress. But she doesn’t feel like she has to pay any attention to them.

When other people are told they can’t go get their hair done because of the pandemic lockdown rules, Pelosi got busted breaking them. Somehow her grandkids managed to fly across the country when people were being advised not to travel so they could spend Easter with her, her expensive freezer packed full of designer ice cream while other Americans couldn’t visit their grandparents and were being thrown out of work.

So it was truly like Pelosi when she got busted by multiple witnesses on Thursday entering without going through the metal detectors.

From NY Post:

“Yesterday at approximately 9:59 a.m. multiple members observed the Speaker of the House entering the House Chamber without completing security screening,” the members wrote to the House acting sergeant in arms.

“We are demanding she face the same fines as every other member of Congress,” the GOP members of the committee tweeted Friday night, along with a copy of the letter.

But in another example of being saved by the magical “D” after her name, the Sergeant of Arms wrote back and revealed how there is different application of the rules depending upon who you are.

Isn’t that convenient? She appoints the Sergeant at Arms so of course they can find no incident report from the Capitol Police. Notice how there’s no real denial that she broke the rules. Just a technicality to try to skirt having to apply it to her.

By contrast, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) stepped out to go to the bathroom and didn’t think he had to go through it again on the way back into the chamber because as he said, where was he going to pick up a gun in the bathroom?

“Unlike in the movie ‘The Godfather,’ there are no toilets with tanks where one could hide a gun, so my reentry onto the House floor should have been a non-issue,” Gohmert said in a statement.

He was still fined $5000. For going to the bathroom. He didn’t get the Pelosi exception.

Rules for thee, but not for me.
