As we reported previously, Dominion Voting Systems bailed on a public hearing in Pennsylvania that they had agreed to appear at and answer questions about the conduct of the election.

Pennsylvania Republican representatives were furious that the company blew them and the citizens of the state off in that manner, likening it to a slap in the face and saying it lent credence to the concerns. They also said the company had “lawyered up.”

Now it also looks like the company is going on the PR trail to repair their image despite refusing to appear in a public hearing where they could be grilled under oath.

Fox News had on a PR spokesperson for the company, Michael Steel.

According to Steel, he claimed, “It is not physically possible for our machines to switch votes from one candidate to the other.”

From The Hill:

“Let’s be very clear, our election system is run by local elected officials and nonpartisan poll watchers. We simply provide a tool to count the ballots and to print and count ballots,” he added. “There is no way such a massive fraud could have taken place and there are no connections between our company and Venezuela, Germany, Barcelona, Kathmandu, whatever the latest conspiracy theory is.”

Well, of course the “machines” wouldn’t “physically” do it. But is he truly arguing that the machines can’t be hacked? Multiple demonstrations by media when they actually cared about the issue, have indicated that they could be. That’s not to say there’s proof they were hacked here, only that his claim is misleading.

In Antrim County, Michigan, votes were in fact transposed. The Secretary of State claimed it was the fault of an election official who failed to do an “update” to the system. So that raises the question: what update to the system would have stopped such an issue and was it a problem that happened anywhere else? Point being somehow it happened whether it was the “fault” of the system or not. Why?

Also true was that on the Election Day, the system crashed in Georgia, this time because an “update” was done.

Pressed by Fox News’ Eric Shawn as to how he could be sure the voting machines were secure, Steel responded “[W]hen a voter votes on a Dominion machine, they fill out their ballot on the touchscreen, they are given a printed copy which they then give to a local election official for safekeeping.”

“If any electronic interference had taken place, the tally reported electronically would not match the printed ballots,” he added. “And in every case where we’ve looked at in Georgia, all across the country, the printed ballots, the gold standard in election security, has matched the electronic tally.”

What’s true is that there were uncounted ballots “discovered” in three counties in Georgia with thousands of uncounted votes. Why? As we reported, the folks in Floyd County didn’t appear to even know why thousands of votes there hadn’t been counted. Nor could they say whether or not the system was in any way involved or not, according to video of the officials during the recount.

Steel also claimed they were a “non-partisan American company.” They were actually founded in Toronto, Canada, although they now also have offices in this country.

Bottom line? They should go because representatives in a public hearing and answer real questions.
