Kevin McCarthy Says Sweet Karma May Be Coming for Nancy Pelosi, That She May Not Have Votes to Be Speaker

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is running again for Speaker of the House.

But she may have a much tougher time of it this time around, with Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) saying that she may in fact lose because of the gains that the Republicans made in the House.

“They said in the House, Republicans would lose 15-20 seats, every pollster said that, Speaker Pelosi and [House Majority Leader Rep.] Steny Hoyer [D-Md.]. They also said we would lose the Senate and legislatures as well. What happened?

“We didn’t lose one incumbent. We won every seat except one open. We won 28 of the 29 most competitive seats …. We didn’t lose the Senate. We didn’t lose one control of any legislature. Actually, Republicans gained three new legislatures and we’ve had the most competitive presidential race in our modern history.”

McCarthy said he didn’t think Pelosi would have enough.

“To become Speaker you have to have 218 votes on the floor,” he noted. “When Pelosi went up for that vote two years ago, there were 15 Democrats who voted against her. Ten of those Democrats will be coming to Congress. Those 10 vote against her again, she will not be Speaker of the House.”

“We are close enough now that we can control the floor with a few Democrats joining with us,” he declared, adding: “I think it’s better for America the sooner a Republican becomes Speaker.”

Not all the House seats are fully counted yet, and the GOP may yet pick up more.

As we already reported, Pelosi got bawled out by her members who said that Democrats dancing with the devil of socialism hurt their chances and cost some of them their seats. Some of them placed the blame on Pelosi.

But when asked by Fox repeatedly if she would denounce socialism, Pelosi refused to denounce it, likely knowing she would need the radicals on the left if she was going to win back the Speaker job. But this way she may also lose the middle and she may contribute to Democrats losing the Georgia senate positions and control of the Senate.

It would be some sweet karma if after all her scheming, her pursuit of impeachment and all the plots to try to get the president if she herself lost her position.
