MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has been one of the ones stoking fear about the Wuhan coronavirus.

There are obviously legitimate concerns about the pandemic. But if you just listened to Maddow, you would think that everyone was dying and that we should be shutdown until 2021 or whenever a vaccine drops, no matter the harm that such an action would cause.

South Dakota governor Kristi Noem posted this lighthearted video about social distancing, as my colleague Sister Toldjah reported.

Maddow went after her for it, claiming that there had been a spike of cases in her state.

Then Noem smacked her down with the facts.

“Stop spreading fear,” Noem chastised Maddow. “Only 8% of South Dakota’s hospital beds are occupied by COVID patients. We have and will continue to manage our resources to care for the people who need help. The people of South Dakota have accomplished this WITHOUT draconian lockdowns. #FactsNotFear.”

Noem has been one of the strongest governors against unwarranted fear, saying that she didn’t want to “take too much power in a time of crisis.” Imagine that, actually allowing adults to be responsible for themselves.

As Noem explained to Maddow, COVID patients are taking only 8% of the hospital beds in South Dakota, and just 6% of their ICU beds. So far there have only been 216 deaths in South Dakota. Indeed, it’s perhaps one of the best states in the whole country for how they’ve balanced dealing with the virus while not cratering their economy and destroying people’s lives.

Compare that to New York, with over 33,000 deaths. And that may be a low count because of the alleged cover-up as to the real numbers there. But Maddow would never actually call out a Democrat for actions that may actually have contributed to the deaths of thousands, like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
