You ever see a story that makes you go “Hmm…,” that raises bells and whistles for you?

This is one of those stories.

You may have heard of the name of Alicia Garza before. She’s one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter. According to one of the other founders, Patrisse Cullors, she and Garza were “trained Marxists.”

Turns out that a new group that Garza is heading up has some very interesting connections, according to the Heritage Foundation.

Garza is heading up something called the Black Futures Lab which says it “works with Black people to transform our communities, building Black political power and changing the way that power operates – locally, statewide and nationally,” according to Fox News.

But on the donation page, the group says it is a “fiscally sponsored project of the Chinese Progressive Association.”

What is the Chinese Progressive Association?

From Heritage:

According to an authoritative 2009 Stanford University paper tracing its early days to the present, and which can be found on, “The CPA began as a Leftist, pro-People’s Republic of China organization, promoting awareness of mainland China’s revolutionary thought and workers’ rights, and dedicated to self-determination, community control, and ‘serving the people.’”

The CPA, continued the paper, “worked with other pro-PRC groups within the U.S. and San Francisco Bay Area … Support for the PRC was based on the inspiration the members drew from what they saw as a successful grassroots model that presented a viable alternative to Western capitalism.”

According to the NY Post, the Chinese Progressive Association describes itself as working to “build collective power with other oppressed communities to demand better living and working conditions and justice for all people.” The group has reportedly held events with and supporting the government, and has been repeatedly praised by state-run media. It apparently backed raising the Chinese flag over the Boston City Hall last year to celebrate the anniversary of the Communist takeover of China.

Now I read this story, and I think how the Chinese government threatened President Donald Trump over support for the Hong Kong protesters and over calling them out for lying about the Chinese coronavirus.

Here’s one sample.

“The US has been disregarding facts and distorting truth,” a Chinese foreign ministry statement said.

“It openly backed violent criminals who rampantly smashed facilities, set fire, assaulted innocent civilians, trampled on the rule of law, and jeopardised social order.”

The ministry threatened “counter measures” if the US continued “going down the wrong path”.

I can’t seem to find it now, but I also remember a threat referencing the election.

Makes one think.
