Wheeler said Tuesday, June 9, 2020, he will make policing changes that include ending the use of patrol officers on public transit and redirecting $7 million from the police budget and $5 million from other city funds to communities of color. Wheeler said in a news conference he also plans to dissolve the police gun violence reduction unit, will ban choke holds and other restraints and will work to reform the use of consent searches in traffic stops. It’s taken 70 days.

But it’s finally happened.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler finally has managed to condemn the violence of the BLM/Antifa rioters.

It took the rioters trying to block the exits of the East Precinct and burn it to the ground with all the Portland Police inside to move him. The night before they tried to burn the Portland Police Association building.

Wheeler refused to see it when it was happening for weeks at the federal courthouse. But now when it’s his own people, now he sees it’s a problem. After he let it get completely out of control all this time.

From Fox News:

“When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder,” Wheeler said in a news conference with Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell [….]

“I believe that city staff could have died last night,” Wheeler said. “I cannot and I will not tolerate that. This is not peaceful protests. This is not advocacy to advance reforms.”

In addition to trying to burn down the precinct, over the past couple of days they’ve also attacked the police officers, throwing projectiles, explosives and “rocks the size of shot puts” at the officers. They even tried to run the officers down on Wednesday night.

But even with all that, guess what was the most important thing to him? Not the brave elderly woman who stood up to them and was assaulted. Not that people are being attacked at their homes or these crazies are now rampaging through residential neighborhoods, in addition to trying to kill cops.

His concern?

“Don’t think for a moment that you are if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump — because you absolutely are,” he said. “You are creating the B-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign. If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.”

So that’s his real concern, that the fact that he and other Democrats have let it get out of control might help the reelection of the president. He wasn’t showing concern for the citizens before this.

But this is what he was tweeting last night.

Yes, the fires are blazing. Here’s a compilation from last night, Mayor Wheeler. It’s about time to put the fires out.
