So we’ve seen multiple attempts to deface the BLM lettering put up by Mayor Bill de Blasio with city money to endorse the BLM political movement outside of the Trump Tower.
Most of the defacers have been black or people of color who stand against the radical political group and think that the city endorsing the group is wrong and putting the lettering up is racist. Moreover, they think that it doesn’t do anything to actually protect black lives, as one of the defacers, Bevelyn Beatty said. There’s a group, Operation Paint Drop, that has been involved in dropping paint on the lettering.

But de Blasio has several police defending the lettering around the clock so several of the defacers have been arrested for their actions.

He’s also had the lettering repainted immediately after each time it’s been defaced.

So how does that compare to his approach about the graffiti that BLM rioters have sprayed all over city buildings down by the “Occupy City Hall” encampment?
Here’s a little sample, with anarchy and Communist symbols, anti-police expressions, “kill cops,” “all pigs must die,” cops as dead pigs, ACAB (all cops are bastards) and on and on. They have been up for at least a couple of weeks, some have been up for a month.

The graffiti all over gov buildings will have to wait a bit, @NYCMayor tells @errollouis. The defacing of #BLM mural at Trump Tower will get repainted every time it's defaced.

You can even see on this video, a BLM rioter spray painting the building and then amble back across the street to the encampment, all under the eyes of the police, who do nothing.
Watch this carefully,it’s not another frustrated COVID-19 excuse by DeBlasio. Nor is it an aspiring artist at work. You are watching a graffiti vandal add to the destruction of a NYC building just a short distance from city hall and yes the NYPD is not allowed to make the arrest. pic.twitter.com/Y7aDx5cGxE

They also spray painted all over the park ground and the street in the area, and on multiple other businesses and poles.
So what was de Blasio’s response to the jarring hypocrisy and uneven application of the law? Oh, well, priorities.

Basically screw you, cops or citizens who might have an issue with this, we’ve taken a political side with our uneven handling of this.
There is apparently something about the stone of the municipal building that makes it very hard to clean off graffiti, according to @BilldeBlasio attempting to explain why it hasn't been cleaned in a month.

Something about the stone? Is he kidding?
But apparently, the stone has changed now that he’s gotten backlash for his lackadaisical response.
It wasn’t until he started getting backlash for the above statement that he seemed to reconsider. He said this today.
The @NYCMayor just said the "graffiti is just not acceptable and graffiti on public buildings will be removed."
"There is a balance we always strike between the right to protest and public safety." He says what to do about the Occupy City Hall camp is up to the NYPD: https://t.co/UvEUJwahsR— Gloria Pazmino (@GloriaPazmino) July 21, 2020
Now that the camp got whacked by the police, some of it is finally being cleaned up.
