We’ve previously reported about the St. Louis lawyer couple who defended their home by displaying guns when BLM activists went onto private property, broke the wrought iron entrance gate, and allegedly threatened them.
In a very troubling move for gun rights and self-defense, the St. Louis authorities got a warrant, went to his home, and seized Mark McCloskey’s AR-15 rifle he displayed in that incident.
But it may be even more problematic than that.
Mark McCloskey appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show last night and said that the rumor was that they might get indicted soon.
He described how the police came to his house almost apologetic about what they were doing.

From Townhall:
“They didn’t want to have to be there. They were doing their job. Patty wanted to take a picture to document it and she asked if they wouldn’t mind facing away from the camera so that people wouldn’t get mad at them if their faces were shown on TV,” he told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.
Carlson noted the irony of how the police didn’t come the night of the incident when the couple was allegedly threatened, but they did come to get the rifle, their protection.
“My attorney advised me not to be on the show tonight because the rumor is that we are going to be indicted shortly,” McCloskey continued. “Having said that, this is the same circuit attorney that released 35 of the protesters that torched and looted in downtown St. Louis but now she wants to indict me. I didn’t shoot anybody. I just held my ground, protecting my house, and I’m sitting here on television tonight instead of dead or putting out the smoldering embers of my home.”
Insane, isn’t it? Given his situation, very brave of him to tell the truth about the Circuit Attorney, Kim Gardner, and he’s right on target with that, which is part of the problem. But McCloskey said people have to stand up to this and take some risk.
One of the basic reasons that America is America is the rule of law. When you dispense with the rule of law and operate just according to political whim, you become a banana republic governed solely by the desires of those in power. Failure to prosecute crime and prosecuting non-crime further erodes that basic tenet.
As we’ve previously reported, Kim Gardner was backed by George Soros in her run for the job. We’ve seen this problem from the flip side before with Kim Foxx, the Cook County State’s Attorney over Jussie Smollett. So it isn’t just about St. Louis or this particular case, it’s about all the places where Soros has backed DAs with a similar desire to fundamentally transform the criminal justice system.
The law should be on the McCloskeys’ side if in fact they are indicted. Assuming it’s still applied.
