New cement and wood barricades bear the name CHOP, Tuesday, June 16, 2020, inside what has been named the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone in Seattle. The city put the barriers in place Tuesday in hopes of defining an area where emergency, delivery, and other vehicles can travel through the area while still preserving space for protesters, who have been there since police pulled back from near the department’s East Precinct after recent clashes with people protesting the death of George Floyd. Fox News correspondent Dan Springer and his crew had a run in with the radical leftists in CHOP when they went to the zone in Seattle to do some location shooting.

But according to Fox, he was having trouble with the shot because of the “filthy language” being used by the radicals which he told his producer. According to Fox, it was then that one of them shoved him and threw a hot cup of coffee in his face and on his jacket. You can see the apparent altercation here where he was clearly assaulted and he didn’t start the contact. Yet reality didn’t seem to matter and it degenerated from there.

Springer and the crew then tried to leave in their car, but they were surrounded by people demanding that he apologize to the woman, claiming he pushed her.

They then followed the crew to their car and wouldn’t let them leave. The woman claiming that he pushed her jumped on top of his car, others surrounded the car and wouldn’t let them leave. One man even laid down in front of the car, as they agitatedly demanded he apologize to the woman.

Springer called 911 for the police, but it’s the CHOP, so they didn’t respond.

Eventually Springer and some of the crew left the car and walked out to defuse the situation and the radicals continued to harass them. One of the crew left with the truck then tried to drive away and another radical jumped in front of the car and them shouted, “he hit me, he hit me.”

From Fox News:

However, Fox News Vice President of Domestic Bureaus and L.A. Bureau Chief Nancy Harmeyer said, “At no point during the situation did the Fox News crew ever physically instigate or retaliate in any way against the protesters.” […]

“While covering the news just outside of Seattle’s CHOP zone this morning, a protester confronted Fox News Channel correspondent Dan Springer and his crew after overhearing him cancel a live report due to ‘filthy language’ in the background,” Harmeyer said. “The protester started yelling at him and threw a cup of coffee in his face and on his jacket. Attempting to de-escalate the situation, the crew returned to their vehicle, which was then surrounded by protesters. Unable to drive away, the crew turned the car off and walked away from the scene. At no point during the situation did the Fox News crew ever physically instigate or retaliate in any way against the protesters.”

They went back to get the car, but protesters wouldn’t let them take it, it’s not clear whether they were able to get it back.

How crazy is this? And still, even with multiple killings, assaults and God knows what else, Mayor Jenny Durkan still isn’t acting to clear all this area out. What actually will be enough for her if murders aren’t?
