Brett Favre excited some comment on Sunday with an interview he did with TMZ about Colin Kaepernick.

Favre seemed to do a revision of history about Kaepernick.

From TMZ:

“It’s not easy for a guy his age — black or white, Hispanic, whatever — to stop something that you’ve always dreamed of doing, and put it on hold, maybe forever, for something that you believe in,” Favre said.

Brett told us he believes it’s all very similar to what Tillman did when he left the NFL to fight for his country in the Army in the aftermath of 9/11.

“I can only think of right off the top of my head, Pat Tillman is another guy that did something similar,” Favre said. “And, we regard him as a hero. So, I’d assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well.”

A whole lot to unpack there.

First, Kaepernick opted to go free agent and wasn’t picked up, he didn’t “give up” anything, no team wanted to hire him. It wasn’t his choice and he’s been trying to get back in ever since.

Second, Pat Tillman volunteered to go and fight for his country, giving his life after 9/11. Kaepernick’s protesting was what earned him attention and perhaps the deal with Nike which has netted him millions that he wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

Sorry, when someone wears Fidel Castro shirts, socks depicting cops as pigs and promotes radical leftist views, comparing him to a hero who gave his life for his country is not the first thing that comes to my mind.

Here he is taking the side of the folks who had just attacked us and previously killed hundreds of Americans. He called our response in defense of American soldiers a “terrorist attack.”

So, yeah, no, forgive me, if I’m not really not seeing it.
