Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer became nationally known for her draconian lockdown rules in the middle of the pandemic and the many protests in response to them.

Despite her strict lockdown rules over the pandemic and her attacks on lockdown protesters, on June 4, Whitmer marched with no social distancing in a rally concerning George Floyd.

She was called out for her hypocrisy despite not seeming to understand the economic hardship that she caused to her citizens and her state by her actions who are still considered in a state of emergency until July 16, although she has allowed some limited reopening of businesses with reduced capacity.

One of those businesses was Lafayette Coney Island in Detroit which serves hot dogs. Whitmer went there to help serve hot dogs to people to show the ‘proper way’ to open up in accordance with her dictates.

While there, a man came up to Whitmer and explained that he was a laid off health care worker. Many healthcare workers were laid off when the hospitals shut down a lot of ‘non-essential’ surgeries and treatments and the crush of virus patients that were supposed to overwhelm the system largely never came.

The man explained to Whitmer that he had not received his unemployment benefits from the state and asked if she could help him with it.

From Daily Caller:

“I’m a laid-off health care worker,” the man tells Whitmer in the video. “I haven’t received none of my benefits yet. Is there any possible way that you could maybe put my name in?”

“I’ll check in on it,” Whitmer responds. “Can I buy you a hot dog?”

Does she get the Marie Antoinette analogies? Offering a hot dog to someone trying to sustain himself and not having those benefits likely now for months.

Laid off people through the state have had trouble getting their unemployment benefits since those offices are still kept those offices closed.

She signed an order in May to allegedly hasten the process but obviously people are still not getting the checks. She said “no one should have to worry about how to put food on the table or pay their bills, especially during a crisis. .” Yet they have to, because of her actions. That’s why some were protesting during the lockdown.

It still doesn’t seem like she gets it.

Let’s hope maybe the attention to the story helps this guy and everyone else get their checks.
