Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) made a big announcement tonight.
She was one of the people being considered as a potential vice presidential running mate for Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Biden had announced that she was being vetted.
But tonight she announced that she was pulling out and urging Biden to pick a “woman of color.”
“And I truly believe as actually told the Vice President last night when I called him, that I think this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket,” Klobuchar told Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC. “If you want to heal this nation right now, my party … this is sure a hell of a way to do it.”

So either something turned up in the vetting or her past history as a prosecutor in Minnesota is no longer acceptable to the far left around Biden in the wake of the killing of George Floyd. Klobuchar was accused of not pursuing police misconduct during her tenure, including a case involving the officer accused of murdering Floyd.
May be reading into it, but it looks pretty hard for her.
She likely was Biden’s best chance to grab the middle and the Midwest. She was the only one even arguably moderate among the candidates, with most of the other names being bandied about being fairly far left.
Now, it seems to raise the chances for Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) over Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and now that seems to promise a woman of color even though previously Biden had said he would not commit on that.
On the way out of VP contention, Amy Klobuchar said she wanted Biden to pick a woman of color, but she's also putting Elizabeth Warren in an awkward position.

Indeed, seems to be taking out Warren on her way out the door. But picking someone from California or Massachusetts seems to bring just the same folks who are already voting Democrats. It’s not clear how either Warren or Harris bring in more of the middle or undecided independent folks. Both had trouble generating any following enough to stay in the Presidential race.
