Former Acting Director of National of Intelligence Ric Grenell has done a great job unraveling a lot of fake news that has greatly damaged this country by releasing declassified information from the Russia probe.

That, of course, has earned him a lot of attacks from Democrats and the media.

Grenell suddenly found himself fighting a ridiculous case of fake news about himself.

Because John Ratcliffe has now been confirmed as the new DNI and Grenell is leaving his position as ambassador to Germany, there was speculation as to what he would be doing next.

Politico ran with a story that he was planning on joining the Trump campaign. But there was a big problem with that story.

Not only wasn’t the story true, but they apparently didn’t check with Grenell before they ran with it.

Bertrand took down her tweet about the story, but Politico stood by their story saying they had it from “multiple sources.”

Politico claimed they had tried to contact him, but what was so strange about the story is that they kept insisting to Grenell that their story was true despite the fact that both he and Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale told them in no uncertain terms it wasn’t true. They kept insisting their story was true.

Brad Parscale, the campaign manager for Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, denied that Grenell would be joining the team as well.

“Here is more proof of #FakeNews,” Parscale tweeted Tuesday. “I like @RichardGrenell and we are friends but this story isn’t true. Just more garbage of people making sensational claims.”

But they just wouldn’t give up, asking him to respond to what specifically they said was “untrue.” Um, the whole stupid lie? How is this hard?

The report is still up, the purpose was likely to try to paint Grenell as a partisan to damage public opinion of him. But it just managed to make media look remarkably stupid and petty once again with their persistent Trump attacks, no matter the truth or reality. And they wonder why people don’t trust them?
