There’s no question that Georgia Democratic state Representative Vernon Jones is a man not afraid to speak his mind.
As we reported, Jones made a lot of news on April 14 after he said that he would be endorsing President Donald Trump in the presidential election.
“It’s very simple to me. President Trump’s handling of the economy, his support for historically black colleges and his criminal justice initiatives drew me to endorse his campaign,” Jones said. “This is not about switching parties. There are a lot of African Americans who clearly see and appreciate he’s doing something that’s never been done before,” Jones added. “When you look at the unemployment rates among black Americans before the pandemic, they were at historic lows. That’s just a fact.”
Jones had not been afraid to praise Trump on social media. “A philosopher once said, ‘One courageous man in the crowd is a majority.’ I’ve got the courage to express my convictions,” Jones explained. “I believe that Donald Trump is the best person to lead this country going forward.”
He called on others to support Trump. He also noted he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left him.
I’m a Georgia State Representative and lifelong Democrat. But in this election, I’ll be casting my vote for @realdonaldtrump.

But he immediately got backlash from members of his party. He said he was attacked and harassed by Democrats and because of that, he was going to quit his position as a Georgia state representative although he said he wouldn’t be quitting the party, as my colleague Sister Toldjah reported. “Turn the lights off,” he said. “I have left the plantation.”
But today, he went one further.
Jones said he would continue to let the Democratic Party know that “their bigotry was hurting African-Americans and that more and more African-Americans were thinking independently.” He also nailed them big time, saying they were “the bigots they claim to hate and I won’t be silent about it.”
The way the Democrat Party has treated me this past week has made one thing clear: they are the bigots they claim to hate and I won’t be silent about it. pic.twitter.com/9kE9kcfWKS

The report indicated that he hadn’t been offered or been in contact with the Trump administration about a position or working with them. But it surely sounds like he has a lot to say and he intends to find a way of saying it.
I look forward to committing my full energy to the re-election of @realDonaldTrump and ensuring that the radical Democrats that have overtaken my party suffer a resounding defeat. https://t.co/WdbNPnBsO6

That’s not looking good for Democrats, because as we reported before, Jones is just one example of many African-Americans looking at Democrats and then looking at what Trump has done, who have found the Democrats lacking and Trump addressing many of the issues they care about.
