How hard up is the Biden campaign to spin the questions about whether or not Joe Biden is suffering some decline?

His deputy campaign manager and communications director, Kate Bedingfield, went on Fox and took on the question.

Her response: “This is a disgusting smear tactic… This kind of false, misleading, basically conspiracy theory.”

Fox’s Ed Henry presses her slightly asking how she can call it a “smear” if it’s just playing back his own words and him being unable to complete a sentence?

Her response? Basically everyone has those moments. Henry should have pushed back more on the answer, he doesn’t push back on enough. Yes, everyone has those moments. But that’s not what we’re seeing day after day in the videos of Biden. Daily losing your train of thought and being confused isn’t normal. Yelling at, being confrontational or threatening with voters who ask ordinary questions that he should be prepared for isn’t due to a “stutter” or normal forgetfulness.

Suggesting that it’s all just a smear is insulting to Americans on both sides of the aisle who are seeing it and deserve better answers. Some of the first people flagging it were Democrats like Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Julian Castro and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH). Were they trying to smear Biden?

It’s also incredibly hypocritical given the constant attacks by Democrats and their friends in media, questioning the president’s stability, lying and actually smearing him, that Bedingfield suggests one can’t ask legitimate questions about Biden.

Republicans and Democrats aren’t making up these problems Biden has shown.

If you think showing your boss talking is smearing him, then you have a problem. So does he. And so might we, if people voted for him.

So saying “gee it’s just normal forgetfulness” really isn’t going to fly, especially if he makes it to the general election.
