House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has essentially embraced the possibility of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) being the nominee of the Democratic Party, saying yes, she would be comfortable with him as the nominee.

So she’s basically embracing all the baggage that comes along with that when she countenances a socialist in the top slot for President.

Congratulations, Nancy, you own this one too.

On Monday a group of Bernie supporters surround the care of Illinois Democratic congressional candidate Betsy Dirksen Londrigan as she was leaving a campaign event in Champaign, Illinois.

They were demanding that she debate socialist candidate Stefanie Smith.

The people on the video can be heard yelling “where did she go,” “block her in” and “get by her window!” One demanded to know if she that she would “support Medicare for All.” The video says “January 24” but it actually happened on February 24.

According to the CBS Capitol Bureau Chief Mark Maxwell, Smith is a fringe candidate who “only has 2 donors from Illinois.”

Most candidates in such a situation would have disavowed it if their supporters did anything like that.

Not so Smith. Smith praised the group for their actions, thanking them in a Facebook post,. “I can’t tell you how much it meant to me when I watched the video of what happened — when I saw red umbrellas go up.” She also bemoans how Dirksen Londrigan “desecrated” umbrellas in the post which a festival of cray cray.

From Washington Examiner:

In a caption to the video, she added, “If Betsy can’t handle a few people demanding a conversation about the life or death issues facing many of us in this district, she should quit now because she will not be able to handle Davis and Trump.”

The incumbent Republican Congressman Rodney Davis condemned the actions of the Bernie folks.

From WCIA:

“In 2017, a Bernie supporter shot at Congressman Davis and other Republicans practicing for the Congressional Baseball Game,” Phelps wrote. “Since then Congressman Davis has spoken out against this kind of violence and the harassment others have experienced, saying it shouldn’t happen to anyone. He wishes more people would speak out against this kind of harassment from Bernie supporters.”

This is just the latest in a slew of harassing actions connected to Bernie supporters, according to the Washington Examiner:

In Nevada, supporters of his 2020 presidential campaign sent threatening messages to Nevada’s Culinary Union officials online, over email, and in phone calls. And on Twitter, union officials were called names such as “bitches,” “whore,” “f—ing scab,” and “evil, entitled assholes.” Over email, union officials were referred to as “corrupt mother f—ers” and were threatened that it was “time for people … to go after [them].”

Bernie supporters also harassed Democratic officials at their homes in Nevada and California late at night, shouting with a bullhorn, warning the officials that they better not rig things against Sanders.

The Sanders campaign condemned the actions of supporters yelling at officials’ homes and harassing the Culinary Union officials. It is unclear if they are aware yet of the action against Dirksen Londrigan.
