We’ve done a fair amount of reporting about how New York City has been going over the slide with the new bail reform law that went into effect at the beginning of the year.

The law, pushed by Democrats of course, basically means that with any arrest, barring major violence and injury to someone, a judge has to let you go and wouldn’t require any bail.

That has resulted in people knowing that they can get away with a multitude of crimes, so they are encouraged to commit them and/or just keep repeating them because they know they wouldn’t be held. Because Democrats didn’t consider the consequences of their virtue signaling.

Now one criminal is making it clear who he thanks for his freedom despite his criminal actions.

From Fox News:

A New York City man who’s now been arrested 139 times thanked Democrats for guaranteeing his immediate release despite repeatedly swiping hundreds of dollars from unsuspecting subway commuters since the state’s new bail reform law went into effect Jan. 1.

Charles Barry, 56, has been arrested six times since the start of this year. He’s been released each time without having to post bail under New York’s new bail reform law since his alleged offenses were nonviolent, the New York Daily News reported. In the past, Barry’s served several stints in state prison and has a lengthy record, including six felonies, 87 misdemeanors and 21 missed court hearings, the newspaper reported, citing court records.

“Bail reform, it’s lit!” Barry yelled to reporters Thursday outside the NYPD Transit District 1 headquarters in the Columbus Circle station before officers transported him to Manhattan Central Booking. “It’s the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can’t touch me! I can’t be stopped!”

“I’m famous! I take $200, $300 a day of your money, cracker! You can’t stop me!” Barry’s particular m.o. is to rip the money out of people’s hands when they are in the subway, usually when they are trying to buy metro cards.

Assistant Chief Gerald Dieckmann said that at least in the past, before the bail reform law, he would have suffered some consequence, he would have been held for a few days and he wouldn’t have been able to rip anyone off. He said it was also a dangerous crime, because it can turn violent if the victim tries to hold onto the money or fight back.

This is Bill de Blasio’s New York City, and is it any wonder that now crime is on the rise there?

If Democrats had their way, this insanity would not just reign in New York, but across the country.
