As my colleague Alex Parker reported earlier, Rudy Giuliani dropped some news to Jesse Watters on Fox indicating that he thought he’d found the “smoking gun” when it came to the issue of Hunter Biden and Burisma.
Giuliani is claiming that it has to do with a “money-laundering transaction.”
“This is a money laundering transaction. It occurred just at the time that [former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin] was fired. And it’s about $14.6 million. And this is a notice from the Latvian government to the Ukrainian government that Hunter Biden is under investigation for corruption. … And then it lays out — I’ll simplify it: $14.8 million goes from Ukraine, to a company in Latvia disguised as a loan. Then it goes from Latvia to another company, disguised as another loan. In Cyprus. And then it goes to the U.S. — we lose track of it. Because when Shokin gets it, just about the day he’s fired, there’s no money in here for (board members) Devon Archer and Hunter Biden. Everybody else, the money is listed. All the other board members — money listed, money listed, money listed. None for them.”
While he was on Fox, Giuliani said he thought Lindsey Graham should be aware of the information. “We’ve got the documents, Lindsey,” he said.
It sounds like Graham is on it.
Graham was speaking with “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan when he referred to Giuliani and his investigation. Graham tipped that the Justice Department is “receiving information coming out of Ukraine” from Giuliani according to AG Bill Barr.
“He told me that they had created a process that Rudy could give information, and they would see if it’s verified. Rudy Giuliani is a well-known man. He’s a crime fighter. He’s loyal to the president. He’s a good lawyer,” Graham said.
Graham also made it clear that Barr’s action didn’t involve the president, that there was no order from Trump for Barr to become involved.
Of course, liberals who were saying earlier in the week that why weren’t things just referred to the DOJ instead of going through Rudy are now flipping out that they now are being given to the DOJ. There is nothing wrong with Giuliani referring the information to the DOJ and nothing wrong with the DOJ investigating it. It would be wrong if the President told Barr, you must investigate this. But you shouldn’t get a pass because your name is Biden, you’re a candidate or you’re a Democrat, as has seemed to happen in the past.
But rest assured this is going to set off the Democrats in Congress because they know that Barr is willing to investigate.
