If you thought that the Pelosi impeachment drama was finally all over, maybe not quite yet.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) finally caved and agreed to pass along the articles of impeachment this week to the Senate.

Pelosi has been sitting on the articles for three weeks, despite pushing the “urgency” of impeaching the President, thus denying him a fair trial.

She argued that she wanted a guarantee from the Senate that they would have witnesses Democrats wanted to testify. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shut her down, saying the Senate has control of the trial and the House doesn’t have a say in it. He has said they will stick to the rules that have been in existence since the Clinton impeachment, that they decide on whether witnesses are needed after the House presents its case and the President responds.

Pelosi is now planning to finally have a vote on Tuesday on sending the articles forward.

But it looks like she’s trying to pull one more card out of her sleeve.

She’s claiming that she could still subpoena former national security adviser John Bolton, despite the fact that they’ve already done their investigation and had the vote on impeachment.

From the Washington Times:

“It’s not excluded,” she said Sunday during an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” when asked about a subpoena for Mr. Bolton. “We do think there is enough evidence to remove the president.”

“We have done our job,” she added. “We hope the Senate would do that as well.” [….]

“It’s about a fair trial. They take an oath to have a fair trial and we think that would be with witnesses and documentation,” Ms. Pelosi said.

“Now, the ball is in their court to either do that or pay the price,” she added about the upper chamber, controlled by Republicans.

So she still wants to call him after they already had a vote? I thought they had “overwhelming evidence?” So why would they need to call him?

The House is supposed to be the investigatory stage. That’s done with the vote.

Pelosi is also likely to find that a court would find any attempt to subpoena him moot at this point since the House already voted for impeachment.

But if she wants to speak about a fair trial, when will she be encouraging the five senators who are running for the Democratic nomination for president to recuse since that’s a direct conflict?
