Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took on both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the worst of the abuse revealed in the IG report during an appearance on Fox’s “Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo.

First, he pointed out that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failure to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate was a “sign of weakness.”

Cruz declared, “This is a sign she [Pelosi] understands just how weak these articles are. These articles of impeachment that they actually voted on were really an admission of failure.”

From Fox News:

“For months, they [Democrats] had been promising all of this evidence of criminal activity. For months, they’d be talking about bribery, they’d be talking about quid pro quo,” he said. “But then they heard all the evidence and they got no evidence of it and these articles don’t allege any crime.” [….]

“This is the first time in the history of our country that a president has been impeached without a single article alleging any criminal conduct,” Cruz told host Maria Bartiromo. “They [Democrats] don’t allege any crime, they don’t even allege any federal law that was violated. This was at the end of the day a political response because Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats hate the president.”

Cruz’s remarks about the FBI abuse and the IG report were even more incisive. If you need something to show your liberal friends who don’t get how evil the abuse was, this would be a good video to show them.

Cruz detailed what he thought was “the most stunning example” of abuse the IG uncovered,” how a senior FBI lawyer changed an email from the CIA responding that Carter Page was a CIA asset to he was NOT a CIA asset and then passed that on as part of the effort to get a warrant against Page.

“A senior lawyer at the FBI fabricated evidence,” Cruz said, outlining what had happened. [….]

“That is on its face, criminal conduct,” Cruz told Bartiromo. “If you or I did it in a car wreck case, if you’ve got a car wreck and you were in court and you doctored fraudulent documents and submitted it to the court, you or I would serve jail time for that.”

“That’s senior leadership at the FBI. That’s how badly they wanted to spy on Donald Trump and get Donald Trump,” Cruz continued. “It is a horrifying abuse of power.”

Cruz noted that that lawyer had been referred for criminal investigation and that he believed more were on the way.

And Cruz made the greater point: everyone assumed they would get away with it because they all thought that Hillary Clinton would win and no one would be asking any of these questions.

“How up the chain of command did this go?” Cruz asked. “Nobody is asking those questions whether Barack Obama and Joe Biden signed off on any of this.”
