FILE – This Jan. 17, 2001 file photo shows pedestrians entering CNN Center, the headquarters for CNN, in downtown Atlanta. The latest rough patch for CNN illustrates the two contradictions at the network’s heart. In a brutal time for the news business, CNN is one of the few media organizations thriving while its most visible part in the United States, prime-time on the flagship network, is hurting. The company has built its brand on nonpartisan reporting, while CNN’s audience tilts Democratic as much or more as Fox News Channel’s audience is Republican. (AP Photo/Ric Feld, File)
Polls are not looking good for the Democrats on impeachment.
As my colleague Sister Toldjah reported, the polls since the Democrats have presented their case in the House have shown Democrats losing support with independents and now the latest polls show that the impeachment effort is “officially under water,” with the majority of Americans in most of the polls opposing it.
Here are the results from Tom Bevan at Real Clear Politics:

If this is where the numbers are after the Democrats have produced their whole case without the Republicans even allowed to present a defense yet, imagine where it would go in a trial where they could do that, potentially.
The one poll that some on the left cited was the Fox News poll which allegedly shows 50 percent supporting impeachment.

But no, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) doesn’t appear to understand that Fox News polls don’t just included Fox viewers. Perhaps that’s why she had such trouble understanding her own polling numbers as they tanked.
So guess which poll CNN was promoting? You’ll never guess.
Half of American voters want the President impeached and removed from office, according to a poll from Fox News that was taken as House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against Trump https://t.co/8vrsGPKwSg

They were promoting the Fox News poll, of course.
Now, that’s hilarious given the way that they have attacked Fox on everything, claimed they aren’t a real news organization and called them “entertainment.” CNN criticizing anyone on journalism when they are so bad at it is just funny.
But now that Fox appears to have something that helps their narrative, they’re all over it, promoting it, blaring “Fox News” says this.
But, of course, CNN being CNN, there’s a critical fact that they and the other folks promoting it on the left were missing that changes the perspective of the poll completely.
Here’s the entry for the Fox News poll in 538’s tracker. They used the straight question numbers, not the combined numbers. And those are the ones you should use, too. https://t.co/0qtNjJAK5H pic.twitter.com/4Rt9X5jwlw

Whoops. Check the oversampling of Democrats there!
Of course, CNN doesn’t note that in their piece, although they claimed that Trump tweeted about Fox polls being biased “without evidence.” Maybe if they just checked the sample they could see the bias? Or would that involve actual journalism?
