CNN Claims Trump Supporters Are a Cult, Trump a 'Destructive Cult Leader'

How biased is CNN?

They may have just hit peak level today with Brian Stelter’s “Reliable Sources.”

Stelter cited pillars of journalism (not) – Anthony Scaramucci (fired after ten days) and Dan Rather (canned for lying to undermine a president) – as well as an anti-Trump critic John Weaver, all of whom suggested that Trump supporters have somehow become a “cult.”

Well, with such sterling opinion, who can disagree?

Even more, Stelter claimed, in all seriousness, there was a “mental health expert” who says Trump supporters are in a cult and President Donald Trump was a “destructive cult leader.”

Steven Hassan has a book out (of course) called “The Cult of Trump.” Hassan’s expertise? He was in a cult and has looked into them for years.

From Newsbusters:

According to this guy, Trump was “destructive cult” leader, as opposed to those “healthy cult” leaders.

Hassan then claimed, without evidence, that Trump supporters were “not being encouraged to really explore and look at the details and arrive at their own conclusion. Much of what they’re hearing is emotionally driven, loaded words, thought-stopping, and thought-terminating-type clichés…” In reality, those “clichés” they were supposedly falling for were known as political slogans: “fake news,” “build the wall,” “make America great again.”

Wait, what? So 63 million people are a cult because CNN says so? Because CNN wants to undermine the president? Because people dare not agree with them? Are they joking?

Political slogans are now “cult-like?” What about “Yes, we can?” and magazines that depicted Barack Obama as the second coming of the Messiah? How about believing in a Russia hoax for three years “without evidence?”

“Emotionally driven, loaded words, thought-stopping, and thought-terminating-type clichés?” Have they checked the folks on the left lately? The climate change folks who think the world is ending in 10 years or 18 months? Who paint idol-like murals to Greta Thunberg?

The left projects a lot.

“It is frightening to hear a cult expert say that you see all of these signs right now today in American politics,” Stelter declared. Stelter then lashed out at Trump supporters by suggested they needed to be reprogrammed. “So, finally, the first step, if you say this is a cult, what’s the first step of deprogramming?”

Hassan has the answer: shanghai your relatives at Thanksgiving.

HASSAN: The first step with anyone who’s a true believer is contact with people that are outside the bubble. Cult leaders want to isolate their people. They want — they want family and friends to just disappear rather than keep engaged. Hey, did you read this article? What do you think of it? You know, I’ll watch one of your shows, watch one of my shows. In other words, appealing to the person’s true self, their authentic self, that wants to be a good person, that wants — that believes in America and democracy and truth.

STELTER: For the people who are dreading Thanksgiving, you’re saying it’s an opportunity to get together?

HASSAN: Exactly. Let’s — we’re family. We’re friends, let’s talk. And you know, truth will out. Truth will stand up to scrutiny.

So when will CNN be deprogramming their viewers from all the untruths that they’ve spread to them in the last three years? When will they be accepting viewpoints outside of their bubble and views other than their own (liberal Democratic) views?
