In what was a pretty tight race, public defender Chesa Boudin appears to have won the race for San Francisco district attorney.

Yup, he’s the son of Weather Underground terrorists who were locked up for murder after two cops and a security guard were killed when they tried to hold up a Brinks armored car in 1981.
Chesa, who was then 14 months old, had been left with fellow Weather Underground leaders, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, who adopted him and raised him while his parents were in prison.
The Weather Underground was responsible for bombings of the Pentagon, the U.S. Captiol as well as some police stations. Dohrn crafted a “Declaration of War” against the United States and was on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List.
Ayers later became a professor and Dohrn became a law professor.
Chesa Boudin’s radical pedigree even goes further back than that. His grandfather, Leonard Boudin, represented Fidel Castro’s government and folks like Philip Berrigan and accused Soviet spy Judith Coplon, and his great-great uncle, Louis Boudin, was a Marxist theoretician.
But it isn’t just Chesa Boudin’s relatives.
Before he became a public defender in San Francisco, Chesa Boudin worked as a translator for Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez.
And in a city overrun by poop, homelessness and crime, what is Boudin’s platform?
According to the San Francisco Chronicle:
“We will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes. Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted. Many of these crimes are still being prosecuted, we have a long way to go to decriminalize poverty and homelessness.”
And he wants to “end mass incarceration” and only use jail as a “last resort.”
In other words, if it wasn’t bad enough already, it’s about to get worse.

Meanwhile, as we noted, this effort to put in “fundamental transformation” “progressive” DAs is going on across the country and Republicans better start paying attention.
