In July, Kimberly Klacik, a Baltimore County Republican official, appeared on Fox and detailed the problems of rats and garbage in West Baltimore and called for something to be done to address the problem.
Her report got a lot of press and drew the attention of President Donald Trump and late Rep. Elijah Cummings, whose district included the part of Baltimore in question. Trump and Cummings exchanged words in media over the issue.
But the attention inspired multiple clean-up efforts in the city, some of which Klacik had participated in.
Now Klacik is running for the seat that opened when Cummings died of cancer on October 17.
From Baltimore Sun:
“I am throwing my hat in the race for the 7th Congressional District,” Klacik said in an interview. “I’ve seen firsthand what a lot of people are going through. Our violent crime is up 52% in Baltimore County and it’s rising in Baltimore City, too. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.” [….]
“Talking to residents about rats and infrastructure and vacant homes, there’s so much that can be done,” Klacik said.
But CNN’s April Ryan had a terrible reaction to the story about Klacik’s announcement.
This is the woman who created all the controversy that made @realDonaldTrump go after @RepCummings and Baltimore. Cummings never got over the attack on him and the city. It is all because of her. https://t.co/jD5wEhyNw8

The woman who “created the controversy?” Did she plant the garbage in the district that has plagued the residents forever? Is she really blaming Klacik for actually pointing out the problem?
Not only that. “Cummings never got over the attack on him and the city. It is all because of her.” This is just so wrong. Cummings had cancer, suggesting somehow that his death is related to Klacik pointing out the problem is just vile.
And it wasn’t only April Ryan, her CNN colleague, Brian Stelter, also chimed in.
all because of her… and her ability to get on Fox!

So the problem is Fox dared cover a news story? Or they dared cover a news story that might be implicitly critical of Democrats who hadn’t addressed the trash and rat problem?
With all due respect, @kimKBaltimore inspired me to organize the Baltimore cleanups,
& we removed 29 tons of trash from the city.
Who could be against that?

So instead of blaming the "leaders" who allowed parts of Baltimore to become barely habitable danger zones, blame those who brought a spotlight to the barely habitable danger zones
And where the hell where you when people like Kim and @ScottPresler were picking up tons of trash

She’s a heroic whistleblower and you’re threatening her safety.

Oh please…just stop.@kimKBaltimore exposed a problem in Baltimore that we have been watching worsen for at least 10 years.
Drive along Rt 40 & look for yourself.Kim didn't create the problem nor does she deserve the implication that she contributed to Mr. Cummings demise.

Is CNN suggesting that no one should ever cover a story that might reflect badly on Democrats?
Come to think of it, that is pretty much the position they are always taking as the media arm of the Democratic Party. This is just making it more obvious and disgusting.
