The NY Times is at it again. The Ukraine whistleblower complaint is imploding. So they’re trying to pull from the ‘Kavanaugh playbook’ and double down on the claim that there was something wrong in the July 25th phone call.
From Fox News:
A second U.S. intelligence official is considering filing a formal whistleblower complaint about President Trump’s dealings with the government of Ukraine, according to a report.
The New York Times, citing “two people briefed on the matter,” reported late Friday that the official “has more direct information” about the events surrounding a July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky than the first whistleblower, whose complaint launched a formal impeachment inquiry by House Democrats.
According to one of the anonymous people, the ICIG has spoken to this second person to try to corroborate the original whistleblower who didn’t actually hear the call.
So let’s see if we have that right.
Now we don’t even have an actual claim on the table, someone who hasn’t even made a whistleblower complaint, but two anonymous people tell us we might get one? Really? Are they joking at this point? And the anonymous people and the “not really yet but we’ll call him that anyway” second whistleblower want to tell us about a call that we’ve already heard about from the people actually on the call?
We’ve already seen the transcript of the July 25th call that showed there was no quid pro quo about foreign aid and we’ve already heard from the most important person in the matter, the Ukraine president who said he felt no pressure at all. No one on the call has said there was anything improper.
On the other hand, we’ve seen a lot of machinations from the Democrats, from Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) not being forthcoming about his contacts with the whistleblower and making up supposed Trump quotes from the call to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claiming he didn’t make anything up and trying to ram through an impeachment inquiry without the bipartisan formal vote required. We’ve seen the Volker testimony blow a big chunk of the whistleblower’s claims apart. We’ve even seen a report now that the whistleblower didn’t tell the ICIG about his contacts with Adam Schiff.
Just a coincidence, one of the reporters on this NY Times article is Michael Schmidt, the same guy who James Comey leaked to through his friend.
So Democrats now want a do-over after the first try failed?
How’d doubling down work in the case of Brett Kavanaugh?
At what point do we say this is just silly?
