New Poll: Trump's Approval Rating in Texas is So Bad, He Barely Beats Fire Ants

A new poll that came out just today suggests that Texas, of all states, isn’t nearly as safe for Donald Trump’s Republican Party as it looks. His own approval rating is a disaster!

I know what you’re thinking. “Yeah yeah yeah, clickbait.” But look at the facts. John McCain and Mitt Romney won Texas by 11 and 15 points, respectively. That lead dropped to 9 in 2016, when Trump only squeaked by Hillary Clinton nationally.

Hillary Clinton’s 43% in the state matched Barack Obama’s high point in 2008, but Trump lost votes to Gary Johnson, who got 5 times the votes that Bob Barr got in that year. Trump, as New York liberal, is the least popular Republican in the state in 20 years.

So should not be as surprising as it is, that his polling is tanking in the state. But Quinnipiac polled Texas and Trump’s results are even worse than that, at 52% disapproval.

Even as an outlier, even in a poll of registered voters, there’s no way this should be happening in Texas to a Republican. The party is in real trouble this year, just as Ted Cruz has been warning about for months.
