Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly is in hot water over comments he made about Representative Maxine Waters’s hair on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday morning.
O’Reilly joked with the panel that he could not focus on the substance of Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters’ criticism of President Donald Trump because he was distracted by her hair.
Despite his apology, calls for his termination have intensified tremendously throughout the day. His “James Brown wig” comments are being called sexist and racist, and have garnered the attention of many notable figures in the political world.
Calls for O’Reilly to be fired have come from many directions, spanning from political figures, news producers, and just every day people upset over the comments.

Does @FoxNews have a standards and practices department? Because there's not a news organization I know of where this could fly. https://t.co/OPGj6Y09dF

I seem to recall Don Imus being fired for similar commentary about black women; though in that case, not about a *member of congress.* https://t.co/2d2ldkCv92

“As I have said many times, I respect congresswoman Maxine Waters for being sincere in her beliefs,” O’Reilly said in a prepared statement. “I said that again today on Fox and Friends calling her ‘old school.’ Unfortunately, I also made a jest about her hair which was dumb. I apologize.”
Following criticism, Fox News has reported that O’Reilly will address the comments on his show Tuesday evening.
