House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) continues to make ironic and hypocritical statements surrounding healthcare.
As we famously remember, it was Pelosi who uttered in 2010 that, “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it” when speaking about Obamacare. Now that Democrats are in the minority and opposing absolutely everything Republicans are trying to do, she continues to offer her unsolicited opinion about what Republicans should do going forward.
Friday morning, just ahead of the highly anticipated healthcare vote set to take place on Friday afternoon, Pelosi stated that any Republican who votes in support of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) will have their vote “tattooed on their foreheads” regardless if the bill passes or not.
“What is happening today is a lose-lose situation for the Republicans. It’s a lose-lose for the American people, that’s for sure. But the people who vote for this will have this vote tattooed to their foreheads as they go forward,” Pelosi said. “They have to answer for the vote. They can’t say, ‘President Trump made me do it. The speaker made me do it.’ It’s their vote, their boss. Their bosses are their constituents. Their constituents will be very affected by this.”
Pelosi, oddly grandstanding as if Obamacare is a massive success, indicated to reporters that Republicans are in a “lose-lose situation” because of their decision to remove “essential health benefits” in order to satisfy certain conservative lawmakers.
When reporters pressed Pelosi on who should receive the most blame if the bill were to fail, she quipped that both Trump and House Republicans would share blame.
“Well, it’s Trumpcare. That’s what it is. But it is the product of the House Republican. I think they all have their fingerprints on it,” Pelosi said. “It is something initiated by the Republicans in the Congress, their leadership, Mr. Ryan. Some people call it Ryancare. It is more specially Trumpcare because he’s determined to have it pass. But it’s clearly dominated by the… Freedom Caucus … Eliminating the essential package is really their doing.”
While Pelosi jumped at the opportunity to hurl attacks at President Trump and Republicans over the healthcare bill, she failed to mention that Obamacare is on the verge of collapse while premiums have skyrocketed to over 100% in many states.
The final vote on the AHCA is still expected to occur late Friday afternoon barring the White House postponing for a second time this week.
