While I'm not a constitutional attorney, I do have a reasonable understanding of the U.S. Constitution, including what it allows, prohibits, and why.
So, as we look at one of the latest threats from Democrat political figures and/or state and local law enforcement agents against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE ) agents, a grasp on one of America's Founding Documents comes in handy — for the honest and objective among us.
For example, let's meet Philadelphia, PA, Sheriff Rochelle Bilal.
Bilal is among the left-wing chorus, mightily heralded by Democrats in positions of power who threaten to arrest ICE agents for the *crime* of officially and legally doing their assigned jobs to round up illegal aliens — in this case, as President Donald Trump often says, "the worst of the worst."
On Saturday, Bilal ran her mouth in a news conference something fierce (absurd), and hoo-boy, did she make a fool out of her condescending self (emphasis, mine):
Those that come into our communities wearing masks to commit crime— and thank God for our District Attorney Larry Krasner, who says he's gonna lock them up... you're getting arrested... we stand here today with all those who stand against the made-up fake, what you can call ICE. Professional law enforcement? I'm not calling none of that. I call them made-up, fake wanna-be law enforcement.
Because what they do is against not only legal law but moral law... you will not be able to hide. Nobody will whisk you off. You don't want this smoke, because we'll bring it to you. And the fake, whatever they call them because I can put... I can't say their name. But the criminal in the White House will not keep you from going to jail.

Where to begin with that nonsense?

The wannabe-badass sheriff clearly knows zero about the Constitution.
Or, if she does, she does a masterful job of hiding it. Oh, and before we shred her idiotic comments, can someone please tell me how the so-called "moral law" is in play here? (The question is rhetorical.)
The issue of whether or not state or local officials can arrest ICE agents for simply performing their lawful duties boils down to fundamental principles of American constitutionalism, federalism, and the rule of law — in this case, immigration laws written by Congress.
Translation: Bilal and her ilk are on beyond-shaky grounds with their hollow threats.
Not to get deeply into the Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2 of the Constitution), again, but simply:
The Supremacy Clause states that the Constitution and federal laws made pursuant to it are "the supreme Law of the Land," binding on all states notwithstanding any contrary state laws or actions.
Moreover, immigration enforcement is a quintessential federal power, rooted in the Constitution's provisions for naturalization (Article I, Section 8) and the inherent sovereign authority of the U.S. to control its borders.
Needless to say, *thanks* to former President Joe Biden and his handlers, millions and millions of illegal aliens waltzed across our borders at will, leading to chaos, weakened national security, horrific crimes, and a disregard for the will of the American people — sans the Democrat Party and its useful idiots, that is.
ICE Director Fires Back
ICE Director Todd Lyons was, shall we say, not amused by Bilal's meaningless threats:
Anytime you pit law enforcement officers against law enforcement officers, it makes nobody safe. This is the exact type of political rhetoric that I've been saying, ever since I've had the opportunity to be the ICE director, that use of this increased rhetoric is what's causing the issues, right now.
"You can't pit a local law enforcement officer against a federal law enforcement officer. We are out there trying to do a lawful law enforcement mission, and this rhetoric right here is a pure example of what we're facing every day.I'm not one for banter or bluster, but my message to the sheriff is try it, try to arrest my folks. Let's see what happens.
While the admonition "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" is sometimes overused, it couldn't be more applicable to the unlawful and dangerous attempts by activists to continue to interfere with ICE.

So here's the thing:
While I'm not among those making declarative statements about the deadly shooting of an agitator in Minneapolis, I will say that the deceased woman chose to play a very stupid game, in which she won a tragic (and easily avoidable) stupid prize.
