Erika Kirk announced in a post to X on Monday that she has agreed to meet privately, one-on-one, with Candace Owens, which will be the first direct communication between the former friends after Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk's brutal assassination in September.
First, a bit about Candace Owens:
Following Charlie's assassination, Owens, the flame-throwing political commentator and former (fired) TPUSA employee, rushed to hop aboard the Conspiracy Express to make crazier and crazier claims about who was behind his murder and why.
Among her baseless conspiracy theories, Owens has hinted at everything from Israeli involvement to “deep state” ties to U.S. military ties, and even TPUSA insiders betraying Kirk.
As always, Owens continues to frame herself as the omniscient know-it-all who bravely battles unnamed “powerful” interests — despite the trove of evidence related to Kirk's murder, and law enforcement authorities singularly charging Tyler Robinson as the lone gunman.
In other words, on Planet Candace, the rest of us are crazy, and Owens is the only sane person in the room.
This brings us to the gist of the article.
During a December 10 appearance on the Fox News show "Outnumbered," Kirk said, in a thinly-veiled reference to Owens:
When you go after my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people that I love, and you're making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode going after the people that I love because somehow they're in on this, no.
Yet, after the clearly subdued anger and distress, Kirk announced the planned meeting, thusly:
Candace Owens and I are meeting for a private, in-person discussion on Monday, December 15. @RealCandaceO and I have agreed that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting. I look forward to a productive conversation. Thank you.
Another example of the incredible grace shown by Erika Kirk in the aftermath of her husband's brutal murder. While Owens continues her lunacy, Erika has every right to blister her, but that's not Erika's gig.

Did I mention that Owens has publicly attacked Erika Kirk’s motives and character, accusing the widow — who had the incredible grace to forgive her husband's alleged killer — of “suspicious” behavior, of exploiting or choreographing her grief, and of benefiting from being made CEO of TPUSA immediately after Charlie's murder?

The Bottom Line
Erika Kirk has shown incredible grace and forgiveness in the aftermath of her husband's murder. Yet Candace Owens has taken advantage of Charlie's death to accuse her former friend of exploiting — if not worse — Charlie's death. The irony, of course, is that it's Owens herself who continues to despicably do just that.
