Buried deep in President Donald Trump's officially named "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which passed the House by a single vote on Thursday and now moves on to the Senate, is a significant win for the Second Amendment and law-abiding gun owners.

Looks like House Democrats and their left-wing media sock puppets were so busy lying about the massive budget bill "taking from the poor and giving to the rich," and other preposterous falsehoods, they missed the provision. 

If the bill survives in the Senate and the provision isn't removed through reconciliation between the versions passed by each chamber, firearm suppressors, commonly referred to as "silencers," would be deregulated, and the $200 federal excise tax would be scrapped. 

Removing suppressors from the requirements under the National Firearms Act would be a significant win for gun rights and hearing protection advocates.

Second Amendment advocates argue that suppressors are designed to protect hearing, not silence gunshots.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which included Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act, completely removing suppressors from the National Firearms Act (NFA).

The addition of Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act to H.R. 1 is a massive win for NRA members and gun owners everywhere.

John Commerford, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), released the following statement:

"This morning, the U.S. House of Representatives passed President Trump's One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which includes the complete removal of suppressors from the NFA. This represents a monumental victory for Second Amendment rights, eliminating burdensome regulations on the purchase of critical hearing protection devices. The NRA thanks the House members who supported this bill and urges its swift passage in the U.S. Senate."

NRA-ILA would like to thank Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Whip Tom Emmer, Chairman Jason Smith, Chairman Jodey Arrington, Chairwoman Virginia Foxx, Representative Richard Hudson, Representative Kevin Hern, Representative Ben Cline, and Representative Andrew Clyde for their dedication and commitment to this issue, and to all Members of Congress who voted to pass H.R. 1. 

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), a gun store owner who aggressively lobbied for the measure, said of the provision:

This is a massive 2A victory — one that takes important steps toward restoring our constitutional freedoms.

Contrary to what the term "silencer" implies, as widely promulgated by gun grabbers, Democrat lawmakers, and their lapdog media, suppressors don't actually silence gunshots; they are instead designed to direct gases from the gun's barrel to reduce the sound of the loud bang.

On average, a suppressor can muffle the sound of a gunshot by 20–35 decibels, while gunshots generally have an average of 150-170 decibels — which is why knowledgeable gun owners use noise-canceling headphones or electronic earmuffs while shooting to protect their hearing from the intensity of gunfire. For comparison, mowing the lawn usually averages between 85 to 96 decibels.

Assuming the bill, including the suppressor provision, passes the Senate and Trump signs it into law, surely gun grabbers can trot out "No Gun Zone" signs and place them all over the country. That would surely reduce so-called "gun violence," right? 

Oh, and outlaw "assault rifles," too.
