"Squatting" — illegally taking over a home or other property and demanding to stay, pending long drawn-out legal challenges — is a serious problem in America. The problem is made even worse by "squatters' rights" laws, also known as "adverse possession" laws, on the books, with varying provisions, in all 50 states.
While illegal aliens living in America and refusing to leave is not the same as squatters, their mockery of U.S. immigration laws and our legal system — generally with the eager support and aid advocates, left-wing immigration attorneys, and Democrat-nominated federal districts judges — is far worse.
Toss in the Democrat Party and the legacy media lapdogs, and illegals are more emboldened than ever.
While congressional Democrats continue to bloviate and make fools out of themselves as they scream bloody murder over the case of alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, untold numbers of other illegals remain entrenched in Democrat-run cities across America.
Noted law professor, author, and political commentator Jonathan Turley shared his thoughts on the issue in a Saturday column in which he differentiated between undocumented immigrants with legitimate asylum and other claims, and "the vast majority with no cognizable claims."
Turley first went after the legal system:
[O]ur legal system is failing the public by allowing unlawful immigrants with no meritorious claims to game the system for years and then simply vanish into the nation.
In courtrooms across the country, the nation seems trapped in a type of Squatter Syndrome, a macro version of the housing cases. The slowness of the removal process is being used to keep millions in the country indefinitely. It may prove to be President Joe Biden’s most lasting legacy, a de facto residency by simply overwhelming the system by the sheer number of unlawful entries.
[...]
There is a sense of the same helplessness in dealing with unlawful immigration. After over eight million unlawful immigrants entered the country under Biden, Democrats are again shrugging and saying that these immigrants must be allowed to remain for years as they raise asylum and other claims that are overwhelmingly rejected.
Most unlawful immigrants immediately seek out border agents after being led across the border by coyotes and gang members. They know that, upon arrest, they would be given “notices to appear” that are years in the future and then released.
While the number of illegal aliens who entered America intentionally and illegally protected by the Biden administration is likely closer to 12 million, many, if not most, illegals crossed the Southern Border with printed instructions on claiming asylum, noted Turley. How odd. Nonsense. The whole scam was orchestrated from the outset.
"It may be the greatest political scam ever pulled on the American people," wrote Turley.
Yeah, that — along with the scam perpetrated on the American people by the Biden White House, the Democrat Party, and the left-wing lapdog media for four years, as they continued to claim cognitively-vacant Joe Biden was sharp as a tack. But I digress.
Illegal Immigrants Adopt Left-Wing Tactics in Denver, Make Insane List of Demands
While polls continue to show an overwhelming percentage of the public favors the deportation of illegal aliens with criminal records, and roughly half support mass deportations of those in the country unlawfully, a new Associated Press-NORC poll, shows that roughly half of the country still approves of Trump’s handling of immigration.
Yet, to hear disingenuous (lying) Democrats like Sens. Chris Van Hollen (MD) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) spew, Donald Trump, "border czar" Tom Homan, and ICE are tantamount to Adolf Hitler's Gestapo knocking on doors in the middle of the night and whisking away the inhabits, never to be seen again.
While Biden and the Democrats claimed (lied) for four years that the then-president needed congressional legislation before the influx of illegals could be stopped, President Trump, after his inauguration, issued an executive order titled “Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements” that ordered the increased use of “expedited removals” under a 1996 law.
What has followed has never been seen in this country, and likely unseen anywhere else in the world.
In less than 100 days, Homan and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) not only locked down the border; they also began to round up "the worst of the worst" illegals and ship them back to their countries of origin. Meanwhile, hardly a surprise, Democrats continue to wail about the faux "constitutional crisis" brought about by Team Trump enforcing U.S. immigration laws by booting those who violate our laws out of the country.
Oh, the humanity!
